      Clock Reality check

What happeneds if you look at a clock and its 14:22 for example then you look again and its 14:23, that must mean I am dreaming, think I'm going to jump out of my window and fly!!!

I would do what your signature says and do (another) reality check before jumping out of any window!
Reason: Clocks do increment like this in real life too.

Haha very funny! But I've seriously never seen a clock increment logically like that in a dream, it usually turns into weird symbols or something.

No it is not mean't as a joke!

I would agree more if it was the seconds incrementing, but I have had a similar situation in a dream where I have looked at an LED clock display, then back again where there has been NO change or distortion which can also be correct in real life if you see what I mean.

Apologies for the misunderstanding, I know you weren't joking but believed Barry to be. A clock not changing or distorting has not occurred to personally, but I think that most of the times I have become lucid I have checked with writing rather than a digital clock. As you said, the solution the OP's query is simply to conduct an additional RC

      No problem, PolicemanFox.
Sorry I jumped to conclusions myself regarding the joke thing when I saw your post under mine, hence my (defensive) assumption in reply to you. I only thought after I had already posted that you probably were referring to the OP.

In fairness, x times out of 10 you would see an error or distortion, but I wanted to make a point that you could see one 'normally'.

You still have to be careful because in my experience some of these dreams seem 'real' at the time.
For example, nearly 20 years ago before I knew much about LD, or doing reality checks, etc. I had this dream (now I know as a WBTB) where I was on this high tower / parapet. I suddenly gained a degee of lucidity, thinking to myself, "this is a dream, it is."
Then I hear (or it goes through my head?) the following: "If you ARE dreaming, then jump off!"

(What if I had been wrong?)

It has always haunted me that dream has due to the 'sinister' aspect to it. As if I was being tested somehow?

      Regards.

Yes, mind you dreams will be 'real' at the time until you become aware, or notice something odd. Although even waking life can be a bit of a 'paradox' (if I'm using the right word there?) as I have seen some bizarre, but normal, situations in real life too. Usually then, like you, I will do an RC to confirm all of this, to get into the habit, or conditioning, for when I do actually dream.

Yes, I've started to find that certain novel situations in waking life somewhat mirror the make-up of my dreams. Also, I often get deja-vu in reality, thinking that I've somehow seen the events beforehand in my dreams. I don't believe in psychic abilities or anything, but it's certainly an odd experience.
