      Use of sound?

One of my friends told me that he has been lucid dreaming for while with the aid of an iphone/touch app that plays a rhythmic frequency. I don't have an iphone/touch and I wanted to know if this is common and is there anyone that knows where to get this mp3?

Yes, you can get these sounds from a lot of sites. Theses are called binaural beats. Ok, so as you may now your brain has different frequencies throughout the day like 40MHz when you're awake and doing something and something like 20MHz when you're lying down relaxed, and about 5-9 when you're in Rem sleep. (My numbers may be way off by the way, this is just kind of an example.) But what binaural beats do is play two frequencies, one in each ear, so yes you do NEED headphones, and the difference between them is what goes into your brain. For example, one hear plays 130MHz and the other plays 123MHz the the difference between them is 7MHz, which is what enters your brain. Now, I haven't had any LD's with that, but it's good for meditating, and relaxing. I had a REALLY vivd dream with them, but they actually ruined it, because the sounds entered my dream causing me to wake up.

Thanks for the response! I have something to go off of now. Do you have any download links for good binaural beats?

That site has quite a few of them, and glad I could help!

EDIT: Also remember, you NEED headphones for this to work!!

I use binaural beats for meditation, relaxation and to help induce out of body experiences. They are very good at relaxing you and if your tired will probably make you fall asleep. If oyur interested in sound you may also want to check out Hemi-Sync which is a technique and method used by Robert Monroe. These are also excellent! If you use these for lucid dreaming i would put them on very low so they don't awaken or startle you if you enter a lucid state.
