Curious to see if anyone else can do this. (WILD/Meditation Anchor)

I don't really believe in chakras, but I've been using the "third eye" (as in the general area on my forehead) as a REALLY effective anchor. Now, I know this is nothing new, but I've added a bit of twist that I've yet to see anyone else mention.

When I WILD/Meditate, I typically give myself 5-10 minutes of preparation, just to get comfortable and relaxed. When I feel ready, I close my eyes, and then slowly--and very lightly!- touch the "third eye" with the tip of my fingernail for just a moment.

This little tap, without fail, always produces a tickling/tingling sensation at a pinpoint on my forehead. I don't know why, but if I focus on it the sensation will remain for 15-30 minutes, and it just ABSORBS my attention.

I'm wondering if anyone else can sustain it?

I think this is a common eastern practice with meditation. Isn't that why Indian people put that red dot on their foreheads? So to answer your question, I assume many people can and do quite often.

edit: also moved to IS since it's not dreaming related

I get an intense pressure at the same spot and it seems like reality is shaking back and forth and compressing down all around me like some sort of fluid. It's pretty cool. I haven't managed to follow it through yet and always open my eyes and move around to break the feeling. It doesn't happen every time I meditate but maybe one out of ten.

I've read reports that attribute this sensation to the fact that you are causing a contraction of the facial muscles around the frontal sinus, which results in pressure and those other strange sensations you mention.

Not to be a party pooper or anything, but it seems to have a pretty simple medical explanation. Whether or not the two things are one in the same though, I have no idea. For me the jury is still out.

No party pooped. I wasn't expecting a "supernatural" explanation. I'll focus on relaxing my facial muscles but that's normally what I do anyways. If it's not this mundane explanation, then it's no doubt another one...

I always thought that the sinus' were inside the bone, so muscles have no effect on them. Perhaps its the pressure on the sinus itself that causes these feelings rather than pressure on the muscles?

However if this is true, then how come the effect lasts for 30 mins?
