      I Ching readings

Post or send me a private message if you want me to do an I Ching reading. I'd offer a Tarot reading too but I don't have a deck currently.

I tried this last year for a couple of people on this site and it seemed to me that it worked pretty well.

Last time I suggested the other person ask some kind of question that's important to them. This time I decided to try it without that.

I haven't been getting very strong dreams lately, but I had hoped this exercise would stimulate something. I didn't get squat for dreams last night.

I asked the I Ching for an image this morning and got 'Youthful Folly' with no lines moving. I take that as a 'decline to answer'.

      From the Wilhelm translation:

      THE JUDGMENT

      YOUTHFUL FOLLY has success.
      It is not I who seek the young fool;
      The young fool seeks me.
At the first oracle I inform him.
If he asks two or three times, it is importunity.
If he importunes, I give him no information.
      Perseverance furthers.

      THE IMAGE

A spring wells up at the foot of the mountain:
      The image of YOUTH.
Thus the superior man fosters his character
By thoroughness in all that he does.

If it were random, the probability of this particular outcome would be (7*5*7*7*7*5)/(16*16*16*16*16*16), which is about a third of one percent. I use a four coin method that is equivalent to the traditional yarrow stick method and is pretty much impossible for me to bias intentionally.

The judgments and images are general purpose metaphors, representing abstract conditions that can take a lot of different specific forms. So I can't say much more about how to apply it without more context such might come in a dream.

Based on past experience, the muse would already have anticipated any question you come up with today, and would have anticipated it for a dream last night also. (Though I went to bed late and got up early, which doesn't help.) About half the time the other person gets the dream instead of me, so share anything that you dreamed last night. Also go to a private message if it doesn't feel comfortable for this to happen publicly, that would be a source of obstruction, and I'm not very good at judging that.

Its looking like this one may go down as a fail. But I suppose we can hope that the cheerful 'piss off' from the oracle was aimed at Marvo and maybe we'll still get something.

      lol
I could describe myself as a being full of youthful folly. This is still a bit generalized, however. I could describe myself in a lot of ways.

I believe I have devined some oracle posts, from when the observers of dreams were still young. Perhaps they still are.

      THE PROPHECY

The scriptures, timeless as they are, spoke of a time long gone, in the ancient land.
There was a river, not big enough to be seen on any map, but not small enough to not need a bridge for crossing.
A pack of nomades came upon the bridge, where a man stood.
He had empty eyes, yet they understood the implications of his posture. Crossing the river came at a price.
The nomades carried many valuable objects, with many different uses, but the man rejected their offerings.
They tried to barter with the man, however he did not yield.
Growing aggrevated and hopeless, the nomades only had their rage left, and began yelling, nothing in particular, in the face of the unmoving man.
Shifting his gaze to them, a smile now danced across that haunting visage.
He said to them, that the toll has been paid, and they could pass. And so they did, bringing all their riches with them, except for one.
      Their dignity.
