      Spiritual Advice and Runecrafting

Okay... I know what I believe and what I don't believe.

I believe in the Bible and in Jehovah God.

I do NOT believe in a fiery hell or in ghosts. I don't believe in an immortal spirit.

I DO believe in energy. To what extent, I'm unsure. I believe in the power of plants, (to some extent) the power of the stars (or magnetism -???), and (to some extent) in the power of the mind and meditation.

I'm too estranged from my God, at this point in time, to turn to him. So I'm falling back into my old ways. But I'm no longer sure what those even were lol. I've practiced so many things throughout my life.

I'm slowly returning to runecasting. I made a set and consecrated them with my blood and with sandalwood oil and incense. And then I found my old stones that I've collected from my travels and I assigned them to the Futhark. I felt more in tune with the stones than with the wood. The stones are unmarked by hand but they have distinct markings of their own. I traced their shapes and unique colorings. I know which way I consider them murkstave and reversed.
With no markings, could I still use them for runecasting? What results can I expect (compared to using the standard materials).

More than anything... where do I go from here? I have a deep spiritual need and I found Jehovah once through the back door of spiritism and the likes... perhaps I can find him again in the future, or at least a simblence of spiritual peace....

erm...how can you believe in the bible but not an immortal spirit?

also, I dont know anything about runecrafting, but it sounds interesting, what are they used for?

I would wager that you probably know more about runes than anyone else here actually. I've often considered making my own set, but that is more so just because I enjoy experimenting and collecting divination objects, rather than a desire to actually use them. Which is probably why I haven't spent that much time or energy on making my own. Just from the limited amount of study I've done regarding runes, basically whatever you feel more drawn to is what will work best for you, regardless of the material or whether the stones are carved. I have seen sets before which are unmarked. It seems to be more effective what meaning you personally assign to each stone, rather than how they are marked. That's why carving your own stones and consecrating them in your blood is very effective for some people, as they put so much time and attention into making each stone and really meditating on it's meaning while carving it...and imbibing it with stronger energy. But as I said, my knowledge of runes is pretty limited. Though I would think if you prefer smooth stones to carved wood, then that is what will work best for you.

If I were to get a set of runes now, I would probably seek crystals, since I am discovering a strong affinity for certain stones. But of course, there is something so nice and earthy about wood as well.

Not meaning to question your personal beliefs, but I am also interested to know how you believe in the bible and God but no immortal spirit or ghosts? I find that rather curious.

      Thanks for the replies

This http://www.sunnyway.com/runes/runeset.html is an excellent web page about runes.

I'm just really confused about how to proceed. It seems almost all religions and spiritual beliefs center around spirits of one type or another. What do I expect to guide my runecasting? My own subconscious? But can't I still influence the results?
And now that I'm off both Strattera and Seroquel I have a really hard time concentrating and meditating. I'm too distracted and confused and filled with mixed emotions.

In my religion, I would now be considered an apostate. Not only am I practicing sin (smoking), I'm practicing another spiritual path (divination).

Rune casting is a form of divination. It doesn't foretell a concrete future, but a likely future if conditions remain the same (Example: If a person smokes, it is likely they will get cancer; but quitting reduces the risks.)

I'm not sure I want to get, too heavily, into my religious beliefs in this thread (mostly because I just don't want to think about it right now).
www.watchtower.org sums everything up very nicely though. http://www.watchtower.org/e/archives...ible_viewpoint lists a bunch of interesting topics.

I am thinking, though, about making runes and selling them on eBay. I've been really strapped for cash and that may be a nice field to explore. I just need to buy a wood burner and spend some time looking for the materials in the wild (I think those would be more marketable than store bought wooden dowels).

Sorry about the double post, and that this one is so long, but I had a breakthrough of sorts. I left the RV and went into my office in the trailer where I've been going to study for the last few days.

I did 2 runic readings with the only question that could come to mind: "What do I need to Learn?"
I used the stones first and drew 9 then cast them on the cloth. With that reading, you look for patterns. The center runes are most important and the ones to the outside represent outside influences.
The first rune in the pattern was Dagaz. It was the only one that fell completely straight. All the others were either Merkstave (crooked) or Reversed. It wasn't a pleasant reading and I was confused as to how I should interpret it.
So I decided on something more simple. I drew 3 wooden runes and laid them before me, representing Past, Present, Future. The three runes had also been randomly drawn for the stones. And these too were either merkstave or reversed *sigh*
I decided to read them as upright because of the nature of the question. And then it made sense.

They spoke of creating my own path, of spiritual growth and journeys.

I then set about randomly choosing a rune for study. I chose "Algiz", then crocheted a sachet to wear both the wooden rune and symbolic stone around my neck.

But I kept thinking about Dagaz.
I gave myself a spiritual name then decided to tattoo Dagaz on the inside of my right wrist.

I felt instantly liberated and driven to make the changes in my life that must be made.

This is what I knew of the meaning of the rune:
"Breakthrough, awakening, awareness. Daylight clarity as opposed to nighttime uncertainty. A time to plan or embark upon an enterprise. The power of change directed by your own will, transformation. Hope/happiness, the ideal. Security and certainty. Growth and release. Balance point, the place where opposites meet. Dagaz Merkstave (Dagaz cannot be reversed, but may lie in opposition): A completion, ending, limit, coming full circle. Blindness, hopelessness."

But then I came back to the RV and decided to research the rune some more. I found a beautifully written page and as I read it, I knew for a certainty that I had chosen correctly. If harmonizes with what I'm going through completely.

"Dagaz is also the confusion inevitable in the spiritual journey. It embodies those times the Gods and ancestors throw us into turmoil, where we cannot see where we are going or where we are or how we go there or what on earth is happening but all omens and portents, our own discernment, it all points we are where we need to be and going in the right direction. Dagaz can be called upon in those times to help wind one’s way to some small degree of understanding of the overall path out of the chaos. Chaos is part of dagaz’s nature though. it understands it and understands how it can be incredibly productive."
