      FlyingRocks Workbook

Ok, Hope that this is how one starts there WorkBook.

      Lesson One

Dream journal has been ongoing, but now taking it more seriously. Even recording little snippets. Wondering how much should be posted into these forums?

I will add into my DJ the time of gong to bed and waking.

Past reality checks have been counting fingers, and checking watch dial. Will return to counting fingers, but in more awareness.

I want to achieve LD because I feel it is a natural evolution of life, it looks like it would be a great fun adventure, and I suspect most things we experience in WL have already occurred in DL?

My night time routine of late it to say to myself, "Every night I have between 4 and 6 dreams. I am missing out on that much of my life. Now is the time to engage in my life by remembering my dreams and becoming aware when I am dreaming." Then I focus on keeping my awareness going for as long as I can before falling into sleep.

Has anyone tried using their android phone to speak there dreams into a recording in the night, to be transcribed to the computer in the morning?

Hey FlyingRocks, welcome to the Intro Class!

I can honestly say I never used a recording device for my dreams late at night. Not a bad idea, since you don't need to turn on the lights for it, and it would be your voice, recounting your adventures. i bet that would be interesting to hear in the morning hehe. Do you do this often? And do you find it helps with recall?

I have tried using my phone to record my dreams. I stopped doing it though. For me personally, speaking wakes me up too much, and it makes me forget the other details. Whereas if I write it down, the quiet scribbling kinda allows me to think about the other parts and details of the dream

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

There are several people to the right of me who look to be similar. We are in a parking lot somewhere. There are overhead lights. I see about 50m away there is a pick-up game of softball going on. It seams to be some kind of military base as the players are wearing khaki. Then someone with a mitt runs over to us and asks us if we have permission to be there. I wake up."

      and dream number 2

"I am sitting in a burgandy red overstuffed booth of what looks like a 1970's truck stop diner. There is a plate of breaded 'chicken fried' steak, mashed potatoes and gravey in front of me. Several people come up to the booth who want to talk with me. I really don't know what they are saying. One though is a young early 20's looking black girl who asks me for food to feed her children. I offer her my plate, but she shakes her head no. She says her children are in the parking lot, and could I go to them, and feed them there."
I recalled this one about 5 hours after being awake, just floated into my mind's awareness.

Any suggestions for pre sleep rituals to achieve LD?

      Thanks,
I'm glad to see that your dream recall is still in good shape in spite of the stress. Treat yourself well during these times of higher stress and don't get especially concerned if LDing becomes more difficult during these times.

Your mantra before bed looks good. I personally like em a little bit shorter but please do whatever appeals to you most. I actually write a few sentences in my DJ every night talking about what I will accomplish in terms of recall and sort of boasting about my own LD abilities. I figure that helps prepare the mind.

What induction technique are you employing? If you are having any trouble selecting one, Lesson II provides an excellent summary of the available techniques. Virtually all of the standard ones (MILD, WILD, DILD, etc.) are greatly enhanced by the addition of a Wake Back to Bed. If your sleep schedule allows it, this is a huge LD boost. But if you are currently too stressed to incorporate this, be sure to avoid creating more stress for yourself. This must always be fun!

Anyway, just keep us up to date in your workbook as often as you can. We'll keep an eye out for your progress and just do our best to answer any questions that arise.

In addition to CanisLucidus's great advice, there's a great tutorial written by RareCola about what things to do before bed that are conducive to lucid dreaming:

      Welcome to DVA FlyRocks

I like your perspective on lucid dreaming. It is certainly a way of becoming more aware of evolutionary potential.

To answer your andriod question, yes, I use my phone with an audio recorder. Lately I have also been using keywords that I record at night. The only down side I have experienced so far is that my speaking is sometimes too quiet to understand. So you have to be somewhat awake when you record, even more awake then just for pressing buttons apparently. Personally, its better than writing because I have to focus so much.

Mantras are awesome for a pre-sleep exercise. Its always good to mix it up because your mind can get used to something very quickly. Also, you can use them for just about anything dreaming related...

Anyways, glad you are here and good luck!
