      Linkelynxy's workbook

      Reality Checks:
I try to stop and think about whether I'm dreaming regularly, although I should try to think about how I got in the location I'm at more, I think that would improve awareness. I'm also a big fan of the nose plug reality check.

      Dream Signs:
      -Repeatedly failing at something easy
-Something disturbing happening and only feeling slightly nervous/upset about it for a very short time
-Aquarium fish. I'm really into aquariums and I own a few myself, which definitely manifests itself in my dreams.
-Any places where I don't come any more, like my old school and my best friend's old house.
-Rooms lit only by weak articifial lights.

      Short-Term Goals:
      -Successfully stabilizing a lucid dream
      -Licking/eating a random dream object
-Fly with the help of a jetpack or artificial wings. I had a lot of trouble flying back when I was into lucid dreaming for the first time, I never really managed to get past the astronaut-on-the-moon situation where I took huge steps and kind of bounced around instead of flying. Using a jetpack or something like that will hopefully help.

      Long-Term Goals:
-Becoming a bit of an expert dream explorer. I'm very interested in the way things behave in dreams, so I'll be setting interesting goals like looking at what kind of clothes I'm wearing in a dream, finding my sleeping body and interacting with DC's.

      Lucid/Dream Recall History:
Like I mentioned before, I used to lucid dream occasionally. I also managed to get fairly good dream recall during that time by keeping a dream journal.
I have now started a new dream journal and will be trying to recover my old one. My dream recall is already getting fairly good and I think it could eventually get great if I keep focusing on writing everything down.
I have had one lucid dream recently, completely out of nowhere, which sparked this new interest in lucid dreaming.

      Current Technique:
I'lll be trying DEILD for the next two weeks - FILD, to be more specific. I think it's a very interesting technique. I'll also try to DILD, so awareness is going to be really important.

I'm currently sleeping from ~12pm to ~9-10am, which would naturally shift to ~11pm to 6.45-8.45 when I have to go back to school after this week. However, I'm going to try to go to sleep slightly earlier than that. The inconsistent waking times are unfortunate, but school starts at different times for me and I really don't want to get up at 7 every day, it's already difficult enough to do that two times a week.

My phone, including handy dream journal app with writing and audio options, is right next to me every night. It also has a very gentle buzzing alarm clock to wake me up to try FILD - I guess I'm lucky for being able to wake up from a very soft alarm, that way I won't be too awake. If I do get a lucid dream, my most important goal is to stabilize by touching objects and maybe yelling at the dream.

Well, the first night trying FILD was a fail :p I'm pretty scared of the dark so the thought of a lucid dream starting in my dark bedroom suddenly scared me when my alarm went off :/ really need to work on that, it's making so many techniques almost impossible to do. WILD, because of the HI, and any techniques that involve a big chance of FA's and make the dreams start in your room.
I guess I should add that to my goals, getting over some of my irrational fears.

Hey Linkelyxy! Welcome to the Intro Class!

I, too am a bug fan of the noseplug reality check. I see you are uncomfortable with FA's. One general tip I could give you is to always reality check everytime you wake up, no matter where you are. This practice can get you accustomed to recognizing false awakenings in the future. I know it doesn't really remove your fear, but at least it'll increase your chances of lucidity in case it happens.

Have you ever thought about flying with your own actual wings? You should also try them some time! Huge, angel-type wings feel really awesome, especially when you feel they are part of your body

      Good luck

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

I'll definitely do a reality check every time I wake up from now on, especially because I'm trying FILD, which can cause FA's. Also, I used to try flying with my own wings and it never worked for me - I guess I didn't "believe" it would work. Hopefully I can go from jetpacks and artificial wings to my own wings eventually!

Anyway, my second time trying FILD was a fail aswell, but I think it was because we slept at my boyfriend's place. We only come there about once a week so I think my body just reacts differently to it, I went straight back to sleep after turning off my alarms.
I did remember some dreams, so at least my dream recall isn't damaged by it. I'll be sleeping at my own house again tonight, I'll try autosuggestion to make sure I actually try the technique.

Had my alarm set for FILD, but when it went off I was having such an interesting dream I promptly decided to turn it off and continue dreaming. Continuing a dream after having been awake for a few seconds is something I've learned to do, although remaining conscious while doing so and turning it into a DEILD is a bit more difficult. I'll be working on that if something like this happens again.
I don't regret going back to sleep, it was a very long and vivid dream and I managed to remember and write down the whole thing.

Ah that's good to hear then! try not to make a habit of it, though. That's how they all start! Lol

I know, although if I wake up in the middle of such an interesting dream I might just do it again - this started out as a regular school day and ended with me hiding in a caravan owned by a friendly Hungarian family after I stole a woman's lions :p
Will be setting an alarm for tonight and really actually try this time.

Got lucid this morning! I'd woken up for FILD, and when that didn't work I decided to just visualize the dream I wanted to be in while falling back asleep. Apparently that boosted my awareness, because when I was cycling home from my boyfriends place I realized I never cycle home from my boyfriend's place.
I stabilized the dream quite well and tried finding a jetpack. I did summon a bag for the jetpack to be in, but it wasn't actually there, unfortunately. I then wanted to give a daisy to a DC, but woke up.

      OHHHHH congratulations!!

Just curious, was it a WILD? Or did you drift off too normal sleep before realizing it was a dream?

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

      Thank you!
I don't think it was a WILD, because it took me a short time to realize I was dreaming. If my FILD attempts fail again, I'll do some visualisation while falling asleep from now on - seemed to be quite effective!

Haven't gotten lucid anymore, but I've been remembering to do RC's so well! Both in normal situations just to be sure and whenever something unusual happens. I now also think about how I got where I am at the time and what I'm going to do next to raise my awareness a bit. I hope it'll transfer to my dreams soon so I can have some DILDs!

Keeping a dream journal again has been so much fun the past few days, it's one of the things I really missed when I stopped lucid dreaming. The weird stuff my brain invents is pretty hilarious at times. I had a dream this morning where I suddenly realized I'd forgotten to feed my goldfish for days!

I also became lucid again this morning! It was triggered by my sister saying "it's only 2:30am!" when I was complaining about having to get up for school. I realized it couldn't be 2:30 because my bf got up at 6am (in real life too - I briefly woke up when his alarm went off) and concluded it had to be a dream.
I tried the yelling thing to stabilize - I yelled CLARITY in my own language, and it worked very well.
Forgot my dream goals though spent the dream trying water bending instead, but that didn't work too well. I should focus on those goals more, because I want to start with small things.

Hey congrats on the lucid! I had one like that once, where my bf's alarm went off at 5am, and I fell back to sleep. I was immediately dreaming about being in our backyard, in broad daylight. I thought "this can't be right, it was 5am like 4 seconds ago.." BOOM! lucid. That's good that you're questioning things.

Also cool that your clarity spell worked. In terms of remembering your goals, I imagine you'll get it pretty damn soon, since you're remembering to yell "Clarity" in the first place. My advice would be to pick 1 or 2 short goals to remember at first: like licking a random object, and looking at your dream clothes (<< love that second one!). Then make yourself remember just those 2 every night. You'll be surprised when they pop in your mind as soon as you get lucid the next time. I got good at that by making myself remember the TOTMs that I want to do. It's really fun and interesting to give yourself notes in waking life, then seeing how they carry over into your dreamworld. You become your own best friend in a way.

Those dream goals sound worth trying! My goals for now are giving a gift to a DC and trying to fly with the help of a jetpack, but licking/eating a random object is also on the list for things to try when I've completed those. I actually tried the dream clothes one quite a few times back in 2010, and the results were so surprising! I remember a dream where I was actually in full knight armor :p
Thank you for the tips! I'm going to work on imagining myself complete my dream goals at night and incorporating them in my reality check ("if this was a dream, what would I do now?").

Ugh, my dream recall is terrible on Wednesdays and Thursdays, didn't remember a single dream :/ probably because I have to get up at 6:45. Maybe a mantra/short WBTB would help?

You should definitely try mantras/autosuggestion before bed (or even throughout the day), it can work wonders. I wouldn't really recommend a WBTB though, since you have to get up early and you need all the rest you can get. Have you tried taking some dream vividness-boosting stuff? Many times, you are able to recall dreams better if they are more vivid. If you don't like supplements, you can drink some apple juice or have some bananas before bed. Those are the most common ones :3

      Good luck!

I'd actually really like to try supplements, it sounds quite interesting to "test" whether they work for me or not.
      Thanks for the advice!

EDIT: also, almost forgot to mention the awesome DEILD chain I had this morning! Totally makes up for the lack of dream recall the last two days, even though I wasn't 100% lucid all the time - I spent a bit too much time telling DC's it was a dream because I thought they were other dreamers. I did give a DC - a friend of mine - a gift, so that's one dream goal down!

Had a pretty funny dream last night where I went all social justice on a bunch of guys who were whistling and yelling at me, telling them that "the fact that I am a woman does not mean I am obliged to want to sleep with every guy that comes along!"
      Go me, I guess!
