      Alucinor's Workbook! =]

Well, its well overdue, but I'm starting a workbook. I haven't been practicing as diligently as I used to, so Its time to whip myself back into shape!

      CUE INSPIRATIONAL MUSIC.

Primary techniques are All-Day-Awareness, some use of Mantras, and WBTB.

In Progress: Practicing WILD and DEILD, as well as Dream Incubation (via Meditation). Also trying to amp up my dream recall again by diligent dream journaling, and "re-winding" my day as vividly as I can before bed to train my memory.

      Let the fun begin!

      To Kick things off...

      Most Recent Lucid

      [2/22/13]

I remember walking up to a steam-punk looking city gate with a Dream Character playing a role as my friend. We enter a tavern and hang out for a while. Interestingly enough, there were bath tubs in the open along the walls, and people were just chilling in the tubs drinking and chatting. I took it in stride and didn't really think anything of it haha. I carrie don and rented a tub from the tavern own and we hung out, and I shaved. Apparently I passed out in the tub, cause next thing I know, Its morning and the tavern is empty except my friend, the tavern keeper, and my self.

I thank the owner profusely for letting me just pass out awkwardly in his pub//bathhouse-thing, and my friend and I head outside via the same gate. He stops next to this banged up vehicle, which has a shrine in it, and he pays respects. I didn't really know why, but I stayed silent and let him do his thing. On the way into the woods, I suddenly remembered to be aware....

As soon as lucidity sets in, I turn to my right and see that my friend is all of a sudden in Ninja garb! I grab him and throw him to the ground and take off. As I try to escape somewhere quiet to gather my thoughts and stabilize the dream, titans start falling from the sky, and leaping up from within the earth itself. They were easily 10ft tall, and relentlessly attacked me.

There were about 15-20 of them, and I persistently tried to escaped towards this patch of woods/swamp in the middle of the field, and gain some composure, but I finally realized it was no use, they weren't letting me go-- and while I was trying to escape, they were kicking my ass around. So, I began fighting them hand-to-hand, mostly throws and tripping them. But theyre much, much bigger than me...so I run for better ground. (At this point I'm still lucid, but its wavering at best. No chance to stabilize =/)

I find this lone structure in the middle of the plains, Its a series of columns with a roof, all in worn stone work and covered in ivy. I head there to break up the groups of attackers. Randomly, there also happens to be a gundam suit (Giant mech-armor for those of you who dont know ) and I jump in it and begin fighting back with a laser-sword type thing, finally on even ground....I wake up. x.x

      Goals for Tonight

1.) Wake up throughout the night (naturally) to write down my dreams.
2.) Practice my "Rewind" exercise and recall the day as best I can back to when I woke up.
3.) Wake up for a 15-20 minutes WBTB after roughly 6 hours of sleep and perform a WILD.

      Dream Goals
1.) I'm currently on a sort of quest to find a Dream Temple that I began visualizing and incubating a few months ago. Its a temple built into the side of a mountain, with a large dome chamber, and then a door that leads out into a giant open cavern with a waterfall, and a shrine at the bottom.

I expect/plan for their to be a monk/monks who will act as a mediator between myself and my subconscious and work out a deal to help me lucid dream and gather insights about myself. I also plan for this to be a sort of "head quarters", from which I'll use the shrine to teleport to other areas of my Dream World that I've been incubating.

General Ideas/Inspirations for the Temple (have to click on them)

      All-Day-Awareness Review

Today has been pretty terrible for my awareness/mindfulness. I've been home for the better part of the day at the computer or watching TV, which I rarely do. It usually helps my awareness tremendously to be out and about, sitting around I get complacent or try to absorb myself in some task to pass the time. Have to work on that.

      Welcome welcome Alucinor!

I love the idea of mapping out lucids like that. Seen the Dream World Academy? It's dead at the moment, but it would be cool to get started up again.

Anyway, glad to have you here

Dream recall seems to be returning to normal. I remembered two full dreams, and a bunch of clips/flashes of other dreams. Took me an hour to fall asleep though.

Attempted a WILD last night. Woke up around 6 hours after I fell asleep. Spent 5-10 minutes writing in the DJ, and then laid down to WILD. I remember holding onto to awareness for a good while, but I eventually lost concentration and my mind wandered off, and I fell asleep.

Think I either need to shorten the WILD so that I fall asleep quicker or extend it to increase awareness/concentration.

No evidence of my Dream World.

      All-Day-Awareness Review

So far, so good today. The morning was a rocky start and I wasn't really maintaining awareness, but as they day went on the awareness has settled in nicely.

I'm realizing more often that when I'm alone walking/driving my awareness is superb. But the moment I start interacting with someone, my awareness fully shifts to paying attention to that person/persons. Realistically speaking, this isn't a bad thing, but I easily lose awareness when it happens. Considering that people show up often in my dreams, its a bad habit to lose awareness around them.

Well, I ultimately decided that I was going to take last night off; No dream journaling, no WBTB, no DEILDs, no mantras, etc. I think its helpful to take a night's break everynow and then to just let things settle. That's my excuse anyway.

Kinda been busy with work. Mostly because they're giving me random night shifts in the middle of my usualy day-shifts. Plus the daylgiht savings time switch. my sleep schedule is a pile of steam....well, not so pleasant things.

      All Day Awareness Review

ADA has also been a little out of whack due to the aforementioned x.x Apparently its not all bad though, I had a lucid the other night!

      Most Recent Lucid/Dream Incubation Goal

I had a lucid where I was wandering around with some DCs, and they took me to their grandparents house. When I walked in the door, there was an elderly woman sitting in a chair...but other than some minor difference, it looked exactly like MY grandma's house, so I knew something was up.

I tried dream spinning, and it worked for the first time ever, I think. Usually it just wakes me up. I was in space, climbing around on a space ship-- but things were really blurry... out of the blue, I thought to try chanting "Ommmmmm." it was really deep (far deeper than my voice can actually go) and the entire dream resonated and sharpened! Really cool.

After that, I shouted out "I want to find my subconscious and ask it to help me with my lucid dreams more!" And as I climbed the last bit of this space ship, there was a space station ahead of me. I leapt towards it, and monks wandered around inside. None of them really said anything to me. They just nodded and smiled.

I found one room that was very large, and very empty: except for an older monk, sitting cross-legged and naked in the center, and another monk at a computer desk not far from him, typing away frantically. I assumed that the naked, older monk was the representation of my subconscious (maybe they both collectively were...Hmmm.)

I approached him and remarked, looking at the one at the computer, "I figured that one would be a closer representation of me" because he was at a computer...like I often am

The older monk laughed and smiled and told me to sit. I either woke up after sitting with him, or completely forgot the rest of what happened :<

Nice workbook Alucinor, I look forward to reading your experiences

I like that dream, perhaps your next dream will start with you sitting there and the monk talking about stuff. That would be awesome.

      Peace!

      Long Over-due Status Report

Well, I'm working 12 hours a day, 6-7 days a week atm, so i haven't been posting much in here. For anyone who is interested, most of my dream related activity is working on my incubation experiment: http://www.dreamviews.com/general-dr...eam-world.html

      Most Recent Lucid

Happened 3 nights ago. This was a very random moment of lucidity. I was just walking down a path alongside of farmland. I realized I was dreaming, and decided to shift into werewolf form and just romp around a bit. I was hauling ass on all fours, and the farm land slowly became gently rolling hills of green grass. I saw a deer and, just for experimentation's sake, decided to try feeding on it, being a werewolf and all. Its not something I recommend, and probably wont be doing it again.

Shortly after that I was attacked by this giant alien-looking slug about the size of a double wide trailer. It tunneled up from underground, throwing tons of soil everywhere, and then started spitting acid after me. In all the commotion I lost lucidity and began running away. Easy come, easy go.

This new job is definitely stretching the limits of my time management skills. I've only been sleeping about 6-7 hours a day at best, which leaves me about 3.5 hours of free time before my 12 hour shifts. But I'm finding that its still not really enough time to do much of anything, so I'm gonna start sleeping 10 hours a day again.

It'll probably suck at first, because I have to get my lucid skills rolling again, and it'll just feel like I'm wasting the day again. But, since my spare time is so limited, I may as well combine my sleeping time with my recreational time and lucid dream.

Any success with mapping out your lucids ahead of time? That sounds really interesting.

I find the extra sleep really helps me when I'm in a slump, good luck!

      Unfortunately not. D:

I haven't remembered a single dream from about my Incubation World. But, considering my sleep schedule I'm not surprised. Once I get settled I think I can get it working.

Finally! My dry spell has ended. And I'm on a roll. Over the past 4 days, I had 3 lucid dreams, after having practically none for the past several months.

And guess what? I finally had an official WILD! And it was incredibly easy. And I have the confidence that I can start WILDing more often now, which will do wonders since I don't really get enough sleep to depend on frequent DILDs.

I tried a couple different things this time. Instead of getting up and staying up for a while, I only got up in bed and sat up for about 3-5 minutes, after scribbling in my dream journal. And then, for my 'anchor' I just had a long, continuous looping "Om" chant, as if by a choir of monks, going in my head. It was surprisingly easy to hold onto.

After than, it was far less dramatic than the accidental WILD's Id had. Things went dark and my consciousness felt fuzzy for a few moments, and then I began to see HI of people from work. They quickly became 3D, and were walking around with no background. For a moment, the background came together and I could see my work place, but I couldn't get up just yet and I instead just waited for the scene to stabilize some more, and finally hopped up and ran around the corner.

But, I made a terrible newb mistake, and should have known better haha. I was so stoked that I finally got WILD down, after hundreds of attempts, than I forgot my goals, and didn't stabalize, and after taking off to fly over the woods, I lost the dream.

The lucid that broke my dry spell is actually pretty interesting. I became lucid in a forest at night, and it must have been a full moon because it was pretty bright outside to be night time. I knew someone was there with me. I drew a pentagram on the ground by tracing my finger in the air over the clearing before me. The pentagram was glowing purple, and when it completed it flashed, and the circle solidified into a well of purple light, and then a demon-skeleton from the new Devil May Cry game came up, and I began fighting it, and found that I had excellent dream control and threw fire, water, and called down lightning on it.

The rest of the dream was me and this other guy hunting demons in the forest, and I shifted into Werewolf form for a while and killed off skeletons and zombie looking creatures. Pretty epic dream to break my dryspell. I have a feeling, in retrospect, that maybe fighting off all these demons, and the guy helping me, was symbolic of me fighting off the dryspell I've been having.

Either way, I've got the ball rolling again, and I've even got WILD working for me, and my energy for dreaming is full renewed!

Awesome update in every way, Alucinor! I love the simplicity of your WILD anchor. What I think is really slick about that is that if you can then remember to take up the OM chant yourself with your dream voice, you can use that to get yourself rooted into the scene. I know that has worked amazingly well for you in the past so it'd be pretty slick if your anchor were to help you remember to transition straight into it.

Most importantly of all, you can feel the momentum that's gathering behind you. That's awesome. Enjoy that feeling, and I hope you ride this wave to a bunch more great LDs!
