      EyeofNight's Workbook

This seems like an interesting way to get back into lucid dreaming, so here goes.

      Reality Checks:
      - Thumb through hand.
      - Counting Fingers
      - Reading clocks, screens, books, etc.

      Dream Signs:
      - Masks.
      - Distorted locations (Staircases that go up and lead to a lower floor, odd proportions for hallways, etc.)
      - People I have not spoken to for years.

      Short-Term Goals:
      - Improve recall.
      - Have a lucid dream.
      - Regulate sleep cycle.

      Long-Term Goals:
      - Fly freely.
      - Summon a castle, vehicle, person, animal, or object.
      - LD twice a week.
      - Experiment with information processing in dreams. (Could some dreams be utilized not only for enjoyment, but for memorization, mental skill improvement, or thought experiments?)

      Lucid/Dream Recall History:
      - As of late? Very poor. In the past I had fairly good recall and had LDs with some frequency, usually around one or two a week. However for the past couple years I've been lucky to have an LD once every three or four months and my recall has basically vanished.

      Current Technique:
      - DILD
      - MILD

      Sleep Schedule:
Natural: Sleep 2-4 am. Wake around 10-11am. (Despite often getting less sleep than the other cycles, I feel most comfortable and refreshed with this schedule.)
School 1: Sleep 1 am. Wake 9 am.
School 2: Sleep 12 am. Wake 7:30 am.

Despite how much I have tried, I have never successfully changed my natural cycle. Even with consistently waking up for school for long periods of time. The moment my schedule no longer requires specific times, such as during breaks, I fall back into my natural cycle almost immediately.

Welcome to the intro class, Eyeofnight! I think it's great that you're making the effort to return to your lucid dreaming practices. This'll give you a great base to begin from, and your recall in particular will return rather quickly once you really get going.

I like your long-term goal of using lucid dreaming to improve your mental skills and work through difficult problems. This sounds like a vast, interesting area to explore, and one that I've not done anything serious with. I love the idea of lucid dreaming tying into self-improvement.

      Great to have you here!

      Thanks for the welcome, Canis.

      Sleep: 6 - 7 hours.
      Sleep Quality: Poor. (Adjusting schedule)
I was testing an app for sleep tracking and it seems I was rather preoccupied both with that and waking up on time during the last part of my dream.

Sleep: 9-10 hours altogether. Woken up several times.
Sleep Quality:Very Poor. Numerous interruptions throughout the night.

Fragment: I remember breaking an ornament or some other object and trying to cover it up. Can't remember anything past that.

Rather hectic days. I was busy getting back to classes and setting up group meeting times for projects. All of my dream based activities were kind of pushed off to the side.

      2015/1/16
Finished my usual flurry of beginning semester activity (for now) and was able to focus on dreaming once again.
      Sleep: 6-7 hours.
      Sleep Quality: Very good.

      Sleep: 7-8 hours
So close to a lucid, my alarm clock is evil.

Fragment 1: Something about driving a car.

Fragment 2: Felt like I was playing a game of some sort. After beating a particularly tough monster, two portals appeared. I picked one at random.

      Dream (Continued from the fragment?) I was walking in a path in a forest with a small group. It was getting quite dark and I had this sense of foreboding. We were strictly instructed not to leave the path, no matter what. There were several diverging ways, but we stayed on one main one. The sun was almost set when the person next to me said something about needing a drink and went to turn off the path. In a clearing off to the side was a bar of some sort with large windows in front and a number of tables inside. No lights were on, and I could hear discordant, echoing music. I stopped the person from going, mentioning that it looked strange and we weren't meant to leave the path. He said something about the lights being nice and the people looking friendly. I looked back at it again and it was still completely unlit, but now there were several people in there just staring. They weren't moving at all, not blinking, hardly breathing. The only one who moved was wearing one of the bone masks that were common in some of my earlier dreams. The moment I noticed it and just starting realizing it was a dream my alarm went off. ;_;

Let my dream journal slip a bit, unfortunately.

From what I remember, I was going to a physics class. The rough draft of our lab report for a large project was due and I was rather stressed about the lack of progress, but my group seemed fine about it. (Which would make sense as, at the time of the dream, we hadn't even done the experiment). I think there was something about offering a seat to someone, and I do remember the class was oddly arranged. Instead of the usual step up every couple rows away from the front, as in real life, the height changes seemed random. Beyond that I only have a couple fragments of odd hallways, something about a very short conversation with someone I used to be close to growing up, but I've only seen once in the past thirteen years.

Yay, a moment of (short-lived) semi-lucidity, and an amusing dream in any case.
      A bit long, so: Dream

I'll be trying to continue this dream some time. I'm quite interested in seeing where the story, such as it is, goes.
