      Salamis's' Workbook

      Reality Checks:
      - Count Fingers/Observe Hands
      - Plug Nose
      - Fingers through Hand

      Dream Signs:
      - My Family (They live out of the country)
      - Seeing my clothes on the ground
      - Looking for things, keys, shoes, etc.
      - High School Friends

      Short-Term Goals:
      - 2 Lucid Dreams every week
      - Remember at least 2 dreams a night.
      - Find my Dream Guide
      - Get on a better sleep schedule
      - Find a more reliable dream sign
      - Figure out which technique works best for me (Currently WILD)

      Long-Term Goals:
      - OBE's/ Layer 5 Lucid Dream
      - Lucid Dream at will
      - Longer lucidity time
      - Explore the Universe
      - Meet someone while in Astral Form

      Lucid/Dream Recall History:
      - I have had about 10 lucid dreams total. I have had dreams where I knew I was lucid when I was little but I never really achieved lucidity. The times I have achieved lucidity: 3 dreams were very clear, about 5 dreams I achieved lucidity and wasn't really conscious enough to do anything, and 2 dreams I remember being lucid but fell directly back in to non-lucidity.
      - Recently I have had great dream recall. Usually 2-3 dreams a night depending on when I go to sleep, and if I am able to get up and write down my dreams in the middle of the night. Some nights I have even had 4 or 5 dreams but some are very short.
      - My most vivid dreams occur around 5-6 hours into my sleep cycle so my best luck with WILD is then.

      Sleep Schedule
      - Right now I am between jobs so I have a lot of free time which often leads to a worse sleep schedule. I never go to bed later than 3 o'clock, but the last few days I have had a lot of trouble falling asleep. On a "normal" night, I go to bed between 12-1 am and wake up at 6-7 am. I write in my dream journal and read about lucid dreaming for an hour and then go back to sleep and wake up around 10 or 11.

      Current Technique:
      - WILD
      - MILD
      - ADA(KingYoshi's Technique)

      Hey Salamus, welcome!

I have to ask, you know your clothes dream sign? Do you mean like, you find your clothes on the ground instead of actually on you? Or you just see your closet basically emptied on the floor or something? I'm just curious because I find it interesting

Anyway, I used to have 4 days off every week, so I know what you mean about sleep schedules getting bad. But i always found that going to bed by midnight, then doing a WBTB at 6 or 7 was the ticket, which it looks like you're doing so great! Look forward to your progress and let me know if you have any questions.

In response to your question, it's more like I just find clothes in places they shouldn't be. Like the floor, or a store, or weird places and I get distracted picking them up. It doesn't happen that often but it has happened a few times so I listed it. Maybe it has something to do with the fact I leave clothes on the ground haha. Oh well.

That's also good to hear. I have been trying to get to bed earlier but even when I do it takes me forever to fall asleep. It has been killer on my dream recall. Plus it makes it really hard to fall asleep with an intention or a dream incubation and I keep waking up tired. Oh well I am sure I will get past it eventually.

I do have a question. When you try and do MILD and do a dream incubation, how do you not keep yourself awake? I have had issues with that. It's another reason why I have had a hard time falling asleep. Anyways thanks in advance!

      Hi Salamus, Welcome!

Whenever you do the MILD or dream incubation before sleep, its always good to leave some time between the technique and falling asleep for some focused relaxation. It can also be helpful to relax before the practice as well. Most of the time we are sleeping is influenced by what we were focused on when falling asleep. The more we can clear that out before falling asleep, the more open the dreaming space will be. And over time, it can produce a relaxed attitude toward sleeping in general which helps with quality of sleep.
      Hope that helps

      Hey again,

I wonder if you may just need more of a comforting routine when you go to sleep. I have something you should try: http://www.dreamviews.com/attaining-...-lucidity.html

This guide has helped me more than once, and not just to get lucid, but also to combat insomnia.

      Thanks for the tip,

I have read this before but didn't think much of it. Mostly cause I was sleeping fine haha anyways. I will try that tonight. I think that I should try to get to bed a little earlier if I can. I am posting at like 12 so it's probably noott gonna happen. Oh well! I will see how it goes tonight.

I am gonna keep WILDing for this week and see how it goes. If that doesn't work I may switch to SSILD that sounds like a decent method. WILDing is rough!

      Thanks for the help!

So last night I got in bed around 2:30 am and did the "Night-Time Routine Guide" and I was able to fall asleep relatively fast. I don't know whether it was from the technique or because I was really really tired. It also helped that it was cooler last night so I didn't feel like I was in oven!

I wake up 6 hours into my sleep cycle and strangely I didn't remember a single dream. I usually wake up and spend at least 30 minutes writing in my dream journal but all I could remember is a tiny snippet of someone accidentally uploading their porn to my facebook haha kinda funny actually. I tried to WILD for a while but I keep getting stuck right at the brink. I can feel my body getting heavy. I get a slight tingling all over my body and I start getting these body motions where it feels like I just fall 2 or 3 feet. But that only last a second and then I am right back where I was. I changed positions twice and I think that may have ruined it. I was having trouble falling asleep and then what do you know? I wake up 2 hours later.

I guess I just need more focus, or a clearer mind. I think I was awake enough to do it I just give up too soon. I will try to go to sleep a lot earlier tonight and hopefully that will do the trick.

Anyway, any thoughts or opinions would be well accepted!

      Thanks!

      Lesson 1 "Homework"

Sleep Schedule: None (Well, not really)

      Times woken up
      6:30 am, 11:20 am, 12:00 pm

Things that caused me to Reality check
I usually do them a lot during the day, I have a necklace and whenever I find myself playing with it I do a reality check.
Whenever someone brings up dreams, says anything about dreams, or their reality (Fairly common yesterday)

Why I want to Lucid Dream
Because I see it as a better way to get to know self. If I can explore my mind while I am asleep and get to understand how my brain works and what it creates, maybe I can get a better grip on my own reality. I also love the absolute freedom you get with a clear lucid dream. You never feel more exhilarated. If you have to be asleep for 8 hours a night you might as well enjoy it. I think that the disappearance of dreams in society is extremely disheartening and maybe if more people focus on lucid dreaming then people will start questioning more. I also think that lucid dreaming is a great way to work on skills, increase your creativity, and raise the overall quality of life. There are some incredible things you can do with lucid dreaming. Also I think it is a lot better than doing drugs. I actually stopped my interest in drugs when I found lucid dreaming. It is a way better feeling than taking hallucinogens and maybe if I get good enough at it, it will erase the want to do them (I still kinda want to do them). I think that everyone should pay more attention to their dreams. They say a lot. Kind of a bunch of ideas pushed into one, but the most important reason. It's fun! It's really fun. You can learn so much. I truly enjoy dreams. There is something so unique and otherworldly about dreams and I can't get enough of it.

Make a plan for your next Lucid Dream
The next time I become lucid I will run as fast as I can and try and go super sonic, I will also try and find my dream guide (the first one I found got killed by a giant snake)

There probably isn't anything to worry about when it comes to the recall. It could be that all the focus you spent on becoming lucid and remembering dreams was causing an excess of awareness. This can make it harder to get solid sleep and you may wake up more during the night. There is a fine line that can be walked between focus and relaxation. Once you find your awareness in that space, your recall will be fine and so will your quality of sleep.
Metaphorically speaking, awareness is a tightrope. On the one side you have focus, and the other relaxation. Typically you need just a little bit of both. Once you find that balance, just let gravity take care of the rest. And by gravity I mean the natural process of your body falling asleep. Find your balance, and you will make it like a pro!

That is really good way of looking at and it makes this whole process seem a lot less stressful. It also simplifies all the WILD guides I have read. Seriously if you were to put WILD into one simple sentence it would be "a balance between focus and relaxation". It is so true and it takes a LOT of getting used to.

For instance last night, just plain fell asleep. I guess I have been trying to hard and now I feel refreshed and tonight will be a lot better. I seriously need to find that balance. The crazy part is one of the first time I tried WILD i did it successfully and then had 2 successful DEILD's. I haven't done it since.

      Oh well, I'll get there.

I had my first lucid dream in over a week. It was short, and not very vivid. I tried to WILD but I think I lost consciousness somewhere in the night but when I got into the dream I just knew I was dreaming. So DILD I guess.

I started to lose lucidity quickly, buy luckily I was fast enough to feel around and get my vision back and then I tried spinning to teleport me. Instead teleporting me like I expected it to I just got really dizzy and started falling all over the place.

I guess it kinda worked because I was in my old house. I was about to fly out the window when I noticed the paint job and decided it might be waking life. I lost lucidity and wandered around non-lucid until I woke up.

I don't really know what to take away from this experience. I know that I need to stabilize the dream right as I become lucid but I have not had any luck with actual WILDing. I just get these dreams where I enter just knowing I am dreaming. I might be close but who knows, I am just glad that I actual had a lucid dream. This dry streak has been killing me. The only problem with these "instant lucidity" dreams is that I don't recognize I am dreaming when I am asleep regularly. I don't have that level of awareness. My dreams have a bit of a "delay" I remember them perfectly but it's as if they didn't happen. It's like remembering a TV show episode you saw but it didn't feel like I was a part of it. It's strange.

I guess I don't have unintentional lucids. Maybe that will come later. All I know is that WILD is definitely the best way for me to go. I have been trying MILD when I go to sleep initially but that hasn't been working. Ah well.

I am also starting Astral Projection. It has a lot of similarities with MILD/DEILD techniques so if I can get good at it I am sure it will be beneficial. Only problem is that I haven't been able to still still upon waking. I need to have a full lucid dream and then I will be all set because before I wake up I can remember not to move. But that has not been easy, especially with my bouts of insomnia. I think that meditation is a really good way to get over it. Who know tonight could be the night.

Lucid dreaming is so exciting and there is so much room for growth. Hopefully once I start working I will have and real sleep schedule and thinks will get easier.
