You are so right about the basics! These are the skills that I always try to return to when something breaks down in my own lucid dreaming practice. We all hit bumps in the road, and the vast majority of the time, returning the basic principles and just making sure you've got them nailed is what makes all the difference.

A good generic nighttime routine is the one RareCola put together a while back: http://www.dreamviews.com/attaining-...-lucidity.html

My nighttime routine is lacking at times. I generally think about some recent dreams, try some incubation work, and fall asleep in like 5 seconds. I usually get most of my dreams after my WBTB, and during this time I try to get really focused on the idea that I'm going to be very aware of my dreams, realize that I'm dreaming, and remember what I experience.

If you have the opportunity to experiment with a WBTB, it's great for recall and is a huge factor (for me at least) in achieving lucidity.

You've got a great attitude and approach! Keep up the good work!
