New to the site... but not to lucid dreams

I am so glad I found this site. I recently discovered this ability (maybe a year ago) and did not know what to call it. It all started for me in a dream, I was in a room (can't remember why or where now) and there was a sign on the wall. I remember not being able to read it and it irritated me. No matter how hard I tried I could not make sense of it. This kept happening, different dreams and different situations where I couldn't read something. I became more and more frustrated. I would always wake up thinking that whatever that said might be really important and could be a key to a great idea or something. Finally, each time this would happen I would really try hard to read stuff in my dreams, almost to the point of looking for stuff to read. It was then I realized that these situations would cause me to become conscious of the fact that I was dreaming. I can't exactly explain the transition, but when it happens, I feel like I have woken up, yet it's only until I really do wake up that I realize I wasn't awake. Once the transition happens I am able to drift (that's what I call it) and allow a more relaxed state to continue my dream. I wouldn't say that I am in complete control of my dreams yet, but am certainly looking forward to going to bed tonight after reading some of stuff on the site.

One more thing, I usually also wake up almost every morning with song lyrics playing in my head. I do not listen to music before or while I sleep nor do I wake up to a clock radio with music. This weirdness has been going on for at least the last 5-6 years and I can not find anyone else who does this. Anyone here wake up to music in your head?

      Thanks,
      S

Wow, you figured out how to recognize dream signs all on your own. How cool is that! If you keep a dream journal, you should be able to recognize more reoccurring signs.
