My first lucid dream. Care to analyze?

      Spoiler for dream:
Looking back, I find the part with my dog a bit disturbing. I think, before lucidity, that it was taking a sour route. I've had bad dreams with my dog before. What I find more unnerving is the possibility of it becoming a lucid nightmare. When I ignored my dog to test myself, I could feel . . . hate, contempt, and evil radiating from him. It was scary. But I knew I was in control, and thus, fixed it.

I realize I probably need to take a moment for dream stabilization next time. Increasing the vividness, the lucidity. I think I lost it at the very, very end.

What about my failure to fly? I think I just need more confidence. I told myself I could do it, but I think, deep down somewhere, I had begun to question. This led to a loss of lucidity, I think.

Still, success! I feel great! Care to comment?

EDIT: lol, I'm pretty excited, and scared about that lucid nightmare part. *shudder* Looks like I'll be about four hours short on sleep today.

If a man believes his dream is his reality when he wakes up is this now his dream or does he believe he hadn't been dreaming at all?

Thanks SurrealReality! I've been here since the 18th, last Sunday, but I've studied the subject for about a week. My dream recall was alright to begin with (although there were dreamless weeks and weeks before, since, I think, I did not try to remember them), but it has definitely been improving since keeping a dream journal. I've been consistent with reality checks in particular; several times during the day when something just . . . seems strange, even if it's absolutely nothing in particular, I do a check.

I definitely think this is something anyone can do, now that I've experienced it. Strangely, I realized I was dreaming not when I was clinging to a plane or falling into cliffs, but when my dog seemed to be dying. I'm not sure what's up with that. Still, that lucid feeling was exhilarating.

EDIT: Oh, lol, thanks to you too DreamHacker! Did you practice before coming to Dreamviews? Your profile indicates you registered, at least, on the same day as I. That being said, I registered the day I got here. Were you here before then?

EDIT: Nice avatar, SurrealReality. Still the most depressing game ever, in my opinion. That's part of what makes it great.

Ha, thanks again! I tried WILD a few times too. Even FILD. Twice DEILD, on nights dedicated to other stuff. And a WBTB. None worked for me. Figured I'd give DILD one night to itself, and it worked!
