Wink Introduction and First Time Experience

      Hello!

My name is Aaron Marlowe, and yesterday I saw a TV news program on lucid dreaming.
I've ALWAYS wanted to be in control of my dreams, and I've been highly facinated of them.

Unfortunately, I don't have them often and I'm rarely in control , so that's why I'm here

I browsed this site for information last night, and I went to bed saying the following mantras: "I will have a lucid dream tonight.", "I will remember by Dream.", "I am Lucid, the World is Vivid."
While repeating these lines in my head, I tried my best to relax. My body became numb numerous times, and sometimes my vision (eyes closed) lit up with bright colors and my breathing become shallowed.

Unfortunately, I got too excited when these things happened, and they quickly dissipated.

So I continued to subconsciously repeat my mantras. It seems like it took me FOREVER to go to sleep, but I tried to be patient none-the-less.

I eventually went to sleep, and I woke up at about 5:50 (went to bed at about 11:30)

I remembered having a dream in some kind of Bakery...however; it was extremely fuzzy and in THIRD PERSON

Which is another problem I have, most of my dreams seem to be in Third Person and not First Person. Is there any way to change this?

Now I'm preparing for tonight. I'm repeating my mantras occasionally to myself and deciding what RC's I will have (pinch nose, my dog will appear in my dream, etc)
I'm also going to do a little meditation.

Anyways, I'm glad to be here, and I'm open to any advice/suggestions

What you were experiencing is WILD(Wake Initiated Lucid Dream) which is an advance technique for lucid dreamers...
      Read on it.http://www.dreamviews.com/f25/wild-tutorial-66238/
For your First/Third person view...Well I know that I always dream in first person but the way I remember them sometimes is 3rd person...

How is your Dream recall? Do you have a Dream Journal?

Interesting...Seeing as I was trying to just go for a traditional DILD (I believe that's what it's called)
But I did read the link you posted and it seems that's what I had.

      My Dream Recall is....embarrassingly mediocre
I hardly ever remember my dreams at all. Is there anything that can help this?
I hope it will improve as time goes on, after all, I just started yesterday haha

Yes I've started one last night. I believe that's the only reason I can remember part of my dream - I wrote what I remembered down as soon as I woke up

The very first step is to remember at least 1 dream a night for a week...
Keep writing every single dream you have in your dream journal.

I do have a pretty good dream recall if you need some more tips just ask me
