      Intro Time?

Well first of all I must say I am quite overwhelmed with everything there is to do on this site, I don't know where to begin.

My name is Trevor, I am 16, soon to be 17, and I have recently (last few weeks) been trying to lucid dream. I haven't had a successful LD yet but I am still trying to accomplish this. I like the idea of being able to live out events I could never do in real life. I plan to stick around and learn as much as I can.

There are plenty of experts around to answer the questions you may have.

      Good Luck.

Thanks, I am trying to keep my composition book on my nightstand, sometimes I wake up and just go back to sleep, often going back into my dream not actually being lucid, just because I am forgetful lol.

I just find myself not doing RC's while dreaming.

      *waves* Welcome!
If you learn to see a pattern in your dreams you can start to become lucid without RCs, its happened to me a couple of times now, I never remember to RC >.<

      Yes as Liger said.
When you're journalizing your dreams. Perhaps after a week, while reviewing your DJ you may be able to find a common THEME of your dreams. It may be a person, an event, an object, a place, etc. This is called your dreamsign
The main purpose of Dream Recall and DJ in LD is to find out that theme. After a while doing so, your sub-conscious mind will program itself to recognize your dream signs.
      Good Luck

So last night, I woke up after about 3-4 hours of sleep, just on my own, no alarm, even though I had one set on my computer which come to find out had also went to sleep. Anyways, so I woke up kinda looked around looked at my sleeping computer didn't want to bother doing anything to it and layed back down (didn't have my DJ as I am out of town), I went over in my head, though, what I was dreaming about, and remembering it, getting the imagery. Then I kept saying inside my head, "I will know I am dreaming" or something along those lines. So I get into a dream nothing special, well I thought I was in a dream, then I thought ok this is a dream, but I wasn't fully asleep it was more like a half sleep where I am kind of seeing things, but hearing everything around me and aware that I am in my bed. And I would roll over and the same thing would happen again. So how do I fix this half-sleep deal? I am remembering more and more dreams, and they are becoming very vivid to me, on the bright side.

Well, my dreams have NOTHING in common. I go from seeing singing dancing cereal, to me being a secret agent, or even to being at a park catching on fire....

Sorry man, just a COMMON answer, not for the extraordinary!!!:=(
To fulfill your Sleep, you have to Dream,
To fulfill your Dreams, you have to Wake up.

Well for me, there seems to be a few common traits, not always there, but they are present frequently, there are a few different ones. One, I am often finding myself in the Safeway (grocery store) down the street, but the produce section is larger and on the wrong side of the store, and always with another man. Also, ex-girlfriends tend to be present haha.

So I am having great dream recall, but am forgetting to keep a journal, will get on that. But my point of this post is, I had an amazingly close LD last night but I failed. I remember while being in the dream, I looked at a clock, unfortunately analog, and did it again without even thinking of doing an RC, it showed the same time =/ . Then I remember walking behind someone and for some reason I thought to myself "Hey, that would have been a great time for a reality check." I don't really remember what happened after that. Can someone offer some help here?

It is actually VERY common for you or someone in your dreams to say ".. reality check ..", esp as you become knowledgeable to what Lucid Dreams and RealityChecks(RC)'s are.

First, dream recall is a prime key factor to almost all methods of induction. ..and since you have gotten that far, its an excellent start.

Second, what will help a LOT, is becoming "aware". Become more aware with the fact that you are awake and conscious during the day. [What I do, is I have the word "awake" written on my hand, so every-time I see it, I take a second just to realize that I am awake, alert, conscious, and aware of my surroundings.] Doing so will help you tremendously when you are in dreams. You will become more alert and aware to the fact that you are dreaming, many times without even RCs or DreamSigns. It will also help you to pic up on the cues of when something happens or is said.

Thirdly, many people get in the habit of doing a few RCs throughout the day. There are countless of methods you can do. A buddy of mine every hour looks at the clock twice, pinches his nose and tries to breath through it, pokes his hand, and pinches an object near him. It takes him about 10sec to complete all of them, and you can do with so casually as to not draw attention to yourself.

Once I was in a dream, I was at my grandma's house, and she was playing the song from Titanic. The one that goes "aaaand Iiii-E-Iiii will aaaaalllwayyss love yoooouuu". In my dream it went ""aaaand Iiii-E-Iiii will aaaaalllwayyss dooo a reality check". LOL.. I heard it and was like, wtf, did it just really say to do a RC?. I didn't end up doing one though. - Point is, sometimes you will catch it, sometimes you wont.
