Red face Hey everyone! (Introduction & what I'm doing so far.)

Hey guys. I've completely started on this whole lucid dreaming thing today. Well obviously, I have lucid dreamed before..once, when I was very little. I remember how great it felt, I had banished a nightmare. Anyways, my name is Lucas and I just wanted to introduce myself. My cousin today was talking non stop about this whole lucid dreaming thing and it got me thinking...and I remembered back to my first lucid dream back in the day.

So far what I'm going to do, starting today, is:

-I wrote a giant "A" with green marker on both of my hands. This serves as a reality check. I figured if I were dreaming and saw it, it would remind me to check if I was A-WAKE. Get it? Yeah I'm so creative. Anyways, If I were to NOT see this on my hands I would know that something was wrong. At first it's not going to make much of a difference since I'm not used to seeing big A's on the palms of my hands but I think it's a pretty good idea.

-I also ask myself if I'm awake every once in a while. Which is a pretty common reality check judging from what I've read so far on this site. I'm going to start poking my palms too which links back to my first reality check. When I go to poke my palms, I will see my big green "A"s and I would first ask myself if i was awake and then I would do the poke-palm test.

-I'm also going to start journaling my dreams. I think if i can keep the thought of lucid dreaming consistently in real life, I can carry it onto my dreams. This is also going to help me better understand my dreams and check for any patterns, although I have no idea what I would do with the patterns...

So that's all! I expect to learn a lot from the site and its community and I hope it turns out well!

It sounds like you've got it all covered

Just one thing though, make sure that every time you do a reality check you aren't simply going though the motions. You need to really ask yourself "am I dreaming?" Don't just say "no" try to come up with some proof that you're not dreaming, like how did you get there? Also when you find patterns in your dreams (called dream signs) then do a reality check every time you encounter a similar occurrence in real life.

      Oh and welcome

      Welcome
I'm just starting to get back into Lucid Dreaming seriously, I've been keeping a dream journal for about 3 weeks
it really helps! at first I'm like "I doubt this will help" but I'm remembering at LEAST 2 dreams a night for the past 2 and a half weeks
and some nights I remember 5! I've only had like 2 or 3 lucid dreams since I started trying but hey, you gotta start somewhere
I'm also new to this site, anyway, the A thing on your palm is a good idea, I did that before and also, my personal favorite reality check, is while your in a dream, to shut your mouth and plug your nose and you can breathe, it's a weird feeling, same as how it is to fly in a lucid dream, it's so cool
well, I'm sorry I'm rambling xD but tonight I'm gonna go to bed around 9ish, set an alarm for 3am (that's around when my REM is) and try to WILD, then my normal alarm is at six,I've tried to WILD before,
no results. Anyway, sorry for the rambling, but you should try a WILD sometime, or try a lot of methods and see what works for you

nice to meet you too, and also, when you starting out with LDing, if you don't mind, telling me what is successful for you when you start doing techniques, because it would be helpful to hear what works for other people who are pretty new to this as well

You can also PM any questions to me or the people with the green names (dream guides). You should start out with DILDs, they're the easiest and require the least effort for good results. WILDs are generally only attempted after you are consistently becoming lucid by DILDs or MILDs. Start simple and work your way up.

It means you were getting relaxed

You were probably starting to go into sleep paralysis. Just keep practicing, that was a far cry from actual SP. It will take A LOT of time to get it. I still haven't been able to have a WILD, but I've only tried twice and those were in the middle of the day.. Try waking up after about 5 or 6 hours of sleep and attempting one, and make sure to read the tutorial! Good luck!

grrr, I always give up when I start to do that xD
and yeah, I'm going to do that tonight, set an alarm for 5 hours after sleep.
I just wanted to try a WILD because I've read soooo much about it, and it seems pretty promising, even though it's hard D:

      Yes they do sound amazing
Just remember they're a lot easier and better (I've heard) when you've been having regular LDs for a while. But, if you commit to it then I'm sure you can do it

yeah and I heard they get easier in time
keep me updated when you get a MILD
and I have a fairly good dream recall, and I've had a DILD once a week for two weeks xD (does that count xD)

      Yep your definitely ready
As for me I think I'll try to increase number of lucid dreams for now, with the odd WILD attempt in the middle of the night (too busy for naps xD).
