      First Intentional Semi-lucid?

So last night I had a weird short experience with lucidity, which is my first in about 10 years, I used to occasionally have lucids as a kid, but I just recently really got into lucid dreaming about 3 weeks ago and have been trying to get my dream recall back and what-not.

So I woke up about 5 and a half hours after falling asleep, drank some tension tamer tea and proceeded to go back to bed. As I was falling asleep I kept repeating to myself that I was going to remember my dreams and I kept thinking about waking up and writing them down in my journal. I'm not really sure how the dream started or anything, but all I remember is I was in a really big van, and my dad was driving it (who lives in Florida and I live in Michigan) and I was in the back getting beat up by like 3 or 4 guys. At this point the thought popped into my head "wait a second, this could be a dream" so I pinched my nose and voila, I could breathe! When I realized I was dreaming the guys beating me up just seemed to vanish, because after that it was just me and my dad in the van. I looked at my hands to see if there was anything odd about them and to double-check if I was dreaming, my hands looked completely normal except I didn't have the A (for awake) that I always have written on my left palm in waking life, so this further proved to me that I was dreaming.

After being certain that I was dreaming, I thought to myself "well, since this is a dream, I should just be able to fly right through the roof of this van and fly away" so I stood up (the van was really big) and jumped up expecting to fly right through the roof and out into my dream world, but instead I just jumped straight into the ceiling and gave my head a good knock and fell to the ground. My dad turned around and said something like "what the hell are you doing!?" and I remember feeling really stupid and embarrassed and because of that I came to the conclusion that this couldn't possibly be a dream so I must've lost lucidity at that point because I don't remember anything else after that.

Even though it was a really short and odd lucid experience, it definitely got my hopes up tremendously! Just to know that lucid dreaming is still possible for me is a huge confidence booster and I look forward to becoming lucid again.

Has anybody ever had similar experiences like this? Is it normal to remember only lucid parts of the dream? That seems to be the only part of the dream I remember.

Yeah that was a lucid. It is normal to forget parts of lucids.

Lol, you hit your head and your dad said "what the hell are you doing!?" that's so funny.

I've never had a lucid like that before, but if I have one like that I'll let you know. I'm not so sure if its normal to only remember 'lucid' parts of a dream, maybe you just got lucky. I've been trying to boost my dream recall and I keep waking up during the night after every dream. It helps me remember my dreams, have you ever had that happen to you. Wake up after every dream?

I've already had 2 lucid dreams, so far I don't like sex because it always wakes me up and people disappear and stuff. But yesterday I tried flying and I worked out OK. Luckily one of my dream signs were there to help me get lucidity. I've been trying for about 7-8 weeks since I knew what I was doing. I can't wait for my next lucid dream.

Cool dream. I hate when dream characters talk you out of being lucid.

I like how your dream-dad was okay with you getting beaten up by a bunch of guys but only says something when you hit your head on the ceiling.

Anyway, congrats on the lucid! I had a short one yesterday, and while it ended before I could do anything it felt pretty awesome.
