New to this. Trying to CANWILD.

      Hello, all.

I'm new to the lucid dreaming, and I have only started, today, officially. I've been on this site several times, reading on techniques, but I only decided to actually try a WILD, today.

I've been keeping a dream journal, and can typically remember 2 dreams a night, at this point. Some times only one, but i usually remember at least one.

I did some reading on "DreamInSane's" (I think that was his username) method of "CANWILD" and got a set up with my alarm. Last night, it didn't work, because of a brother coming into my room and messing it up, along with keeping me in an in-and-out sleep from 4:00 to 7:00... *rolls eyes*

Anyway, being a little zealous, I decided to try a daytime nap WILD, just to see where it would go. I know that it's a harder method, and wasn't expecting to be lucid, my first real try. Nonetheless, I decided to try it.

I laid down, and set my alarm to wake me up in 45 minutes (i didn't want to sleep too long) and laid there, still.

I felt it in my hands, first; a sort of tingling, and then nothing. Sleep Paralysis, I imagine, and soon it felt as if I had no hands at all. My feet were next, and all of a sudden, it was just me and the backs of my eyelids. I was trying a "1 I'm dreaming. 2 I'm dreaming..." in my mind, to four and back, to keep my mind awake.

I started to see shapes form in the void in front of me, and as I tried to focus on it, I felt a wave of, i guess, energy. (sounds new age. i've no other way to explain it.) It surged through me from feet to chest, and it felt real hard to breathe. not hard, like, i couldn't, but that each breath felt heavy. this jolted me, and i was back to just laying there.

I managed to repeat up to the jolt, and was back to square one again.

then my friend called, and totally woke me up. *rolls eyes again*

this time, since I was up, I tried turning my stereo to a station with just white noise playing, since I noticed that i was focusing on my wall clock's ticking, and the ceiling fan's rattle. the static knocked out the sound, and soon I was back to feeling the wave of energy.

now that I had felt it twice, I managed to let it keep going. the breathing felt heavy again, but i ignored it (i could breathe, of course), and soon after, i felt as if I weighed 2 tons. it was this immense pressure that jolted me back to the laying down, awake stage.

eventually, i just lost it, and fell asleep completely. I remember sometime through the experience something about a book opening, and falling down a vortex of multi-colored sands.

sorry for the long length, but it was cool for me. I just need to know if this was actually the beginning to a WILD, or if somebody spiked my chocolate milk, at lunch, today.

tomorrow morning, I will try the CANWILD, but is there any information you can share? I would appreciate it.

      -Jacob Missall

      No information from me.

Sense you hot SP your first time than i guess i feel comfertable telling you to stick to it although i (and a bunch of other members) normally will tell you to try DILD or MILD before WILD.

Anyway keep up the good work

I can't really form the habit of reality checks, though. is it supposed to just be a habit, that you do without thinking? I mean; how could you force yourself to do a reality check, if you aren't lucid, yet?

I'm going to try to WILD again in a moment. I'm still not expecting to become lucid, completely, but i'm really just trying to get used to the SP, if that is what that is. as far as the CANWILD, I had a problem with my alarm, this morning. rather than it just turning off, like i thought it would, it played the playlist, and then went into snooze mode. 5 minutes later, it played the first song in my song list which just so happened to be "Six," by All That Remains (it was arranged by artists). needless to say, it shocked me out of everything.

for all of you WILD-ers out there, what do I have to do to go completely from awake to asleep. you can see exactly what I felt, in my previous post. at which point will I officially cross over?

(Edit) Also, are you supposed to have your eyes open when you are trying to cross over? I keep mine closed, but i've heard of people talking about things coming for them. shadowy things. Is this before or after you cross over? how would they see them?

well, i've been trying every afternoon and every night with no luck. i don't even feel the surges coming on, anymore. i just lay there for 45 minutes, then fall asleep.

I just read an article (it's by "billybob." i can't post the link, because read the PS.) and it talks about how if you're waiting for something, you tell your body to stay awake. that's exactly what's messing me up.

of course, this is like the thing: "don't think about elephants." (just saw Inception last night. really good, but Dicaprio has some crazy wife problems. [watch Shutter Island])

Anyway, i've totally given up on the CANWILD, for right now. No sense in adding in extra elements, and i've got plenty of time to learn to WILD traditionally.

Will keep posting, regardless of the fact that nobody's replying. (thanks.)

      PS: Message to the staff...

this whole "wait 7 days to do anything that's considered normal in a forum (signatures, hyperlinks, LINKS IN GENERAL,) is really bothering me... I know it's not my forum, but that's my $0.02.

      hey mrjacob,

i´m new to this forum as well (but not to lucid dreaming and WILDing)
just read through your posts and i think your on a good way to WILD (referring to your first post)
my advice: try to make it a habit to do afternoon naps (always at about the same time every day, if you can afford it)
this helped me a lot doing WILDs...
also practise to relax your body fast and thoroughly. but also "relax your mind" completely - meaning, you have to sort out all the stuff and sorrows that is on your mind. (you can put it in an imaginary box and lock it for example or you can think it through completely and then put it aside, or whatever works best for you...)
so, once your body and mind are relaxed, just wait and expect SOMETHING to happen. (after a couple of WILDs you'll get a clearer picture of what it feels like and what to expect)
dont worry about using a "WILD induction technique" or something. the right mindset is more important (if you are new to the topic)

so basically: -keep doing your daytime naps
      -relax your mind and body
-expect something to happen (dont get stuck with a particular technique - it will limit the options you have) (dont use a particular technique at all
-dont push the river (dont force anything)

additionally: read (e.g. the tutorials on this forum) and talk about lucid dreaming and OBEs and so on.. the more its on your mind, the more your subconcious will work for you when you do your WILD attempts

      be your own teacher!
      good luck

THIS is exactly what happened to me a couple of days ago! It felt like a wave of numb-ness went through my body and then i felt just like laying there. I could feel my hands again etc. It was a pretty interesting axperience, it lasted only a few seconds though. It also happened to me during an afternoon nap.

      Thanks for the replies.

I haven't really been trying to WILD, the last few days. I've had school, and have been too tired. I'd wake up, and then just fall asleep. I'm going to try again, tonight, for real.

I have been haing a lot of dream recall, though. last night i remembered 3 dreams. they were all wild and sparatic, too. not sure what they mean, or if they even do mean anything... I had an apple before bed, last night. maybe that's what did it.

anyway, i'll keep trying, and post back if i get one.

(EDIT) Just searched for "food affect" in the forum search. this came up:

      Apples.
