      I am awake.

      Hi, I'm Nick.

So I became interested in Lucid Dreaming a couple of months ago. I can't remember where I got my information, but I started keeping a DJ. I had a couple of entries from a few days apart, then I lost interest/was busy for a long while.

Then, a few days ago, I saw Waking Life and it really turned me back onto the idea. That night I wrote in my DJ again, nothing special. At this point I also began RCing.

Earlier today, I was bored. I'd been meaning to look up more in-depth info for a while, so I did, and found this site. I read all the info on offer from the front page. I got interested in what was said about Afternoon naps. I'm often a little tired in the afternoons and more than a little bored. So I decided to nap.

I repeated "I will remember my dreams." a few times to myself, closed my eyes and started counting breaths. After about 200 I was getting a little annoyed, then my train of thought moved and I lost count. So I thought "Screw it!", and went to sleep.

And hour or so later, my little sister came in from school and shouted up to me. I woke enough to reply, but little more. I fell back asleep without really realizing.

And here's where it get's important. I woke another hour or so later. Here's what I wrote in my Journal.

      I awoke.

I'm sitting on the couch watching TV (thought the screen is blank). I glance at the digital clock on the TV, and fail to read the time on it. For a moment I accept it, then I RC, I still can't read it. After a short, third glance, I become aware.

I'm overcome with excitement, but keep myself calm. At this point though, I think I began to wake up.

I stand up, taking some of the bedding (which I was sitting on), with me on my back. I walk through to the other room, dropping pillows and such as I go.

When I reach the other room, for a flash I doubt whether I really am dreaming, and I worry about someone coming home to see me skulking around with my bedding, so part of me tries to wake up. It succeeds.
From "waking up" to waking up, it was all over in about 10 seconds. But I'm so happy! Does this sound like a good step to you guys?

I didn't plan to post here for months, until I'd gone alot further, but this is so exciting, and I seemed to go so far all at once.

So hi, I'm Nick. I play video games, I study Engineering, I smoke dope. And now, I'm a dreamer!
