Quickly blacking out after being lucid.....

last night i had my first official LD. I was looking at a big window without well...a window. like what you have in big castles...and I was looking at the scenery and i said to myself...wow looking with your mind rather than your eyes sure is better! and there I realized i was dreaming then i take a moment to appreciate the scenery (forgot to do stabilization) then i jumped through the window and i really felt like dropping a hundred feet and i did a RC on the way down..i dont remember if i fell back on my bed(which i think so) or fell into a new dream.why did i just jump rather than fly along the scenery?

do you guys remember to stabilize everytime your lucid? any help remembering to do so?

Congratulations on your first lucid dream!

I had mine a few days ago and it was quite similar to what you described.
Even though I knew I was dreaming (it was a WILD) I proceeded with 3 RC's, the first 2 of which failed miserably.
After the last one succeeded I got so excited that I was finally having a lucid dream, I tried to do way too many things at the same time (telekenesis, summon someone) and I blacked out (as in the dream faded to black) and found I was back in bed.

So yeah, the whole dream lasted less then a minute, I also forgot to perform stabilization.

In my last lucid dream (also a WILD) I did some stabilization, and it did improve the vividness of the dream.
After rubbing my hands I proceeded to touch everything on my way to where I wanted to go.
At the end of the dream, I actually had a cup of champagne and it tasted exactly like in real life, I was quite impressed
Since it was a WILD and I started fully lucid, I didn't bother with a reality check.
I also decided to just go where the dream leads me this time, instead of trying to change scenery or anything like that.
It lasted quite a bit longer (probably 3-4 Minutes), and it was VERY entertaining, even though I didn't really do anything special.
I hope that I'll be able to have even longer lucid dreams with more practice.

      Good luck with your dreams!

      Congrats on your dream
For my first lucid dream I got so excited I instantly woke up. For my first 3 dreams I wasn't really able to stay in the dream much longer than 30seconds-1minute. I had trouble stabilizing and staying lucid without forgetting or just waking up.

What helped me the most was to:
#1. Concentrate on the scenery and enjoy it
#2 Slowly walking around and thinking about the things I see
#3 Never close my eyes, (Whenever I close them I wake up)
and #4 is to have some sort of goal and remind myself of it

For me #2 and #3 are the most important. I hope that helped, it took me a while to find what works for me and you'll probably have to go through the same process. Good luck!
