      Question

      Hello all!

I registered to this forum like 2 years ago, and kept checking it for a while and all that, but I kinda lost my motivation, and then I just lurked for a while, but now I really want to try this again, so I am back.

The reason why I'm posting here is because I have a question and I don't know in which other forum category it might fit. And sorry for not making the title more clear, I just really didn't know how to explain it in a few words and I can't remember reading about it around here either.

On some nights before I fall asleep (I have no idea how often and since when this is happening because I never paid any attention to it) there is something weird. It's like some kind of dream, I really don't know how to explain it, but I know it's not a dream because they don't happen before you fall asleep. But other than that it is just like a dream, with people there and talking and all that. And at the same time I am somehow aware of it, and that at the moment I am waiting to fall asleep. It's somehow like daydreaming, except when you daydream you control what you think of, but these things just happen by themselves.
I know it;s not sleep paralysis, because I can move, and there is nothing weird (I've never experienced SP but I think I know what to expect from it).

Is there a name for this thing? And is there any way it might affect my lucid dreaming?
I ignored this until today, and then I thought for the first time that maybe it is somehow related, so I just thought I should ask. Kthxbye.

Welcome back! This is called hypnagogia, and you can dream in NREM sleep, it's just not as great. It's the state between sleep and waking, so it's a bit weird.
