      First Post and Question!

      Hello All

I've had the occasional LD most of my life (I am 41 now). I even remember as a kid having LD naturally but they became less and less frequent though my teens. I didn't really know what LD was back then. I just remember them being fun.

In the last year or so had a sting of very vivid LD which has peaked my interest. I have been working on how to initiate the LD rather than waiting for them randomly. Here is my problem. I'm new here so be patient with me.

I have sleep apnea and sleep with a mask. I started out focusing on the humming sound of the machine while falling a sleep. I pick a point in my mind in front of me and focus in that direction. Most of the time I end up in an empty void. I am lucid and have full control of my thoughts but there is nothing. Just a black empty void. I feel trapped and cant snap out of the dream because I have no trigger. These LD seem to go on for a very very long time. I usually wake out of them by my alarm clock or disturbance.

Has anyone experience this type of LD? What does it mean?

I love when I LD. I hate the experience of the void.

Wow that sounds like you're WILDing. As for not being able to control the dream itself, are you familiar with expectations? Your dreams are normally run on what you expect to happen. If you expect an empty void, you will get one, however if you expect a door, that leads to the beach, to be behind you when you turn around it will be there so long as you well and truly know, and expect, that it's going to be there.

      Hello. Welcome do DreamViews.

You are using the WILD method, with the sound of the machine being your anchor.
As soon you see you are dreaming, imagine (visualize) a place where you want to go; if the place don't forms around you, try to open your dream eyes (be cautious, you can open your real body eyes) and look around, stabilize the dream by touching things or rubbing your hands.

Thank you for the feedback. I did some reading into WILD. I think my problem is when I am focusing in a direction in front of me I am not imagining anything. I will try and focus on a door or something I can pass through the next time.
