      First post and question...

Ok, so ive been sorta reading these forums for ages, never posted cause i was never close to a lucid dream, but last night, i went to sleep a bit late, and this morning my mom woke me up to see if we need to go to the doctors about my throat, well i fell back asleep. I'm not sure what it was, i was in the bathroom looking in a mirror and i just smiled and said this is a dream, and i started being real carful not to wake up. Well, the first thing i did was jump off my porch and fly, it was the first time i ever flew in a dream too(I didn't go to high though).

Now, I woke up while talking to some one, sorta realized i was awake mid sentence, the first thing i did was type out what happened so I would not forget. Well, what I am wondering is how do you know you where truly in control, because now that I am awake i realized a few odd things, like I didn't do what I've always thought I would do, I didn't even leave my yard, and I didn't act in a way that I thought I would while dreaming, and along the coarse it seemed like i sorta forgot. Another thing to note is, my first flying dream, i could hover, not really fly, and only a foot or two, this was actually flying, well anyways, my first flying dream i could barely control it, and thats how it was in this dream, It seemed like as the dream moved on I could no longer fly easily and i started just hovering again.

Welcome to Dreamviews! Congrats on your Lucid dream too! I think your level of control is low because it was your first lucid dream. The phrase "practice makes perfect" is so true in this situation. The more you have, the easier and more lifelike it is. Hope I have helped.

I can only hope it happens again, though I doubt it will because i think the reason this one happened was because of my mom waking me up and asking me a couple questions. then i fell back asleep and happened to be dreaming about looking in a mirror lol.

Try setting your alarm to wake yourself up, think about lucidity, and go back to sleep.

The rest of the stuff you described in your dream are all very common to lucid dreaming. The difficulty flying, the forgetting you are lucid, the not doing what you thought you would. You're actually very lucky to have come across so many obstacles in one dream like that, because now you're that much closer to overcoming them in your next lucid.
