      Hello everybody, I'm new! :D

Hello everyone, nice to meet you guys!

I didn't even know this concept of lucid dreaming exists before, not until after I watched Inception and one of my friends sent me the link to this site.

I had a look at the introduction and sleep stages at the main page last night and went to bed with the thought that I will try to be "conscious" during my sleep (though I don't how! ). But well, it seems I had some awareness of my dreaming. I don't know, they are very vague. I can barely remember anything. I don't think that I even "dream" at all. But there is one thing I notice when I wake up: I still remember that I had like 4 "cycles" and this is quite consistent with what was described in the sleep stages part. And that's the only thing I remember.

So, I don't know. But it's fun to try new things, isn't it? Hope to get some help from you guys and some day I willl in turn help other new members!

Oh yeah I have this question. I heard or read somewhere that when your brain works a lot during daytime (think a lot, remember a lot... something like that), it tends to be dreaming when you go to bed. Isn't it true?

      Welcome to DV!

First thing I want to say is that everybody dreams. Period, whether you like or not, or whether you remember it or not. Read the Dream Recall Tutorial to learn how to remember them.

For your question: Yeah, it works a lot all of the time, no matter what... You only dream when you are in REM sleep. Very rarely you can get a short, low clarity dream during NREM sleep. Please try to research a bit more before asking questions that are pretty obvious. No offense meant.

You can start off by reading the above tutorial, the Reality Check Tutorial, and the DILD tutorial.

Good luck, and I hope I helped!

Welcome! Inceptions a great movie about conscious dreaming, with experience, and time however you will notice the movie is not entirely accurate to actual lucid dreaming.

With lucid dreaming you will find that you have nearly no limitations, unlike the movie you have no rules, and can do whatever you please in them. Also while an interesting idea for the movie, dreams do not stack in length when having dreams within other dreams. A dream within a dream however is really common among lucid dreamers, many times you will find yourself waking up in your bed only to find out that your still dreaming, this is known as a false awakening.

One really spot on thing about the movie though is the vividness of lucid dreams and how real they appear, they can at times feel as real as your waking life, which is why reality checks are vital to lucid dreaming. However lucid dreams do vary in vividness, some may not appear that clear or real at all.

One thing to keep in mind when you do happen to have a nice clear lucid dream, is to remember the feeling of it when you wake up rather then the sight of it, otherwise it will just appear to have felt like a normal typical dream.

Just some insight on a few things
