First REAL lucid dream.. lasted less than 1 minute..

Hi, I have been a member of the forums for quite a while, coming back every now and again but never having the resolve to seriously delve into the practice of lucid dreaming. I have recently started thinking about it and over the past few nights have tried a few techniques. Last night I did not try anything at all, but hd a very lucky and very random lucid experience in the morning.

I set my alarm for 7am to get up before work and go to the gym, I wasn't feeling so sharp though so by the time 7am came I decided to stay in bed the extra hour instead of going to the gym. Being kept awake by a hamster in my room I couldnt sleep for about 50 mins then finally nodded off... straight into a lucid.

It was so so so so so real, I couldnt believe how real it was and how conscious I was, I remember thinking that if I didnt get up soon I'd be late for work, but I wouldn't care if I was late if I was having a lucid dream. After less than a minute.. my snooze alarm went off ruined everything, but am so happy after all this time I got my first real lucid experience.

I plan to recreate the same conditions that led to my lucid dream tonight i.e. Six and a half hours of sleep, wake for half an hour to an hour then go back to sleep, I will be reading tutorials to try and augment this technique with others.

I think the thing I am going to focus on at the moment is creating a dream scenario that I want to land myself in and thinking of that as soon as I wake.

Hopefully someone can give me a bit of advice how best to procede and I look forward to replenishing my previously forgotten knowledge

      Thumbs up Congrats Dude! :D

Ha, I got kinda lucky too last night. I had four ultra real lucid dreams. Anyway, if you want to create your own dream scenario I recommend the DEILD ( Dream End Initiated Lucid Dream) or the WILD ( Wake Initiated Lucid Dream) technique. I'd recommend the DEILD technique because the WILD one seems to be very hard for people ( I'm included). If you don't know what it is, I'll explain the steps.

      1. When you are dreaming and you JUST come out of a dream ( it doesn't have to be lucid ) and are woken up, do NOT move or open your eyes. Stay just the way you are.

      2. Imagine a dream scenario in your head, e.g, a sandy beach. Make it look as realistic as possible. Soon this will probably actually be your dream and what your surroundings look like.

      3. The last step is rooting yourself in your dream. What you want to do is, as soon as you get into the dream, do NOT start walking or anything. Chances are it'll be pretty blurry. Look at your hands. Notice all of the fine wrinkles on them and focus until the dream is very clear. Try to stay relaxed so you do not wake up.

That's about it, man. Also, if you are in the dream and it starts to fade or you feel you are waking up, do the same thing with your hands again. It works very well.

Again, congrats on the lucid dream! Hope you have lots more

      Nice job on the lucid!

Most of my lucids end in the first minute, too. You just need to keep practicing and eventually they'll last longer.

      Congratulations on your first LD!

I remember my first one... I got so excited that I woke myself up, haha.
