      Howdy....

Recently I've been attempting to attain lucidity after being inspired yet again by experiences written by others. I hope to eventually achieve mastery of this elusive technique and have the experiences of my life (literally) Hell let's not all waste 1/3 of our lives and live to of em'.

I do have a couple of questions.

      1. On average how long does it take someone using the dream journal and reality check regularly to achieve their first lucid dream?

      2. What are some of the things I should start doing if I ever attain lucidity.

      3. Is there a certain feeling you can describe while within a dream.

Hope to make plenty of friends here.

      Welcome to the forums!

For most people it takes a few weeks to get their first lucid dream, but it varies. Some people get it within the first week, others take about a month (about average) and there are a few who take a bit longer than that, but the most important thing is to not give up and keep trying, because you will get a lucid dream.

When you do become lucid (after you verify it with a reality check or 2) you will want to first try to stay as calm as you can stabalize the dream. There are many techniques on here to stabalize a dream, but the most common is rubbing your hands together and focusing on your surroundings. Stabalizing a dream is all about staying calm and taking in your surroundings.

When you first get lucid you will get very excited and it causes a lot of people to wake up, which is why you have to stay calm. The feeling i had when i first became lucid was a rush of excitment and i immediately wanted to try out flying. I did, but in doing so i lost lucidity. Most first lucids last anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes, hopefully your will be a few minutes.

The people here are very friendly and will be happy to help with any questions you have (myself included) People with green names are "dream guide" on the forum who are there to help you with anything LD related you need.

Thanks for the info, I'm trying my best to stay commited to the journal and reality checks. Reality checks are easy as my watch reminds me when to do them, but writing dream recall is alot harder for me, alot of the time It's just blank memory when I wake up

Don't make RCs a mindless, repetitive task, because then you could start to slack off on them and miss a chance when it really counts. Just do them every once in a whiel, like when the scenery changes, such as going outside or moving to a different room in the house.

As far as dream recall, I'm not that great at it myself, but one thing i would advise is that when you wake up, don't move, just think about any dreams you've had. This also helps you prepare for any DEILDs you want to do, which are pretty much free LDs that you can chain together.

Yeah but this time of the year, I have school and what not so I don't have a lot of spare time. Although I do usually wake up about 4 or 5 due to my dog being annoying, which i guess int he long run could help me. And I think about the RCs when I do them every hour. I question in my mind "Am I dreaming" as I try and breathe through my closed nose then phase my hand though a wall.

I know what you mean with school. I can't do all the DEILDs i normally like to do in the morning unlesss i get up at like 5AM, but then I'm too tired to do anything

Doing RCs a lot isn't a bad thing, you just have to be sure to do them thoroughly each time. The dog could help you as long as he doesn't keep waking you up after you go back to sleep.

I think you're on the right track and you should start having your first LDs soon!
