      Hi

Hello all I am new to lucid dreaming but I am very interested in it. I found out about it a couple weeks ago in an article at highexistence.com. If I could get any tips that would be awesome and much appreciated. I look forward to conversing with all of you. Thanks!

      Hi Wiz! Welcome to DV!

There are a lot of helpful articles, resources and people here! Is there anything about lucid dreaming that you are specifically interested in learning more about?

Please feel free to ask me any questions

Well in that last couple of weeks that I've been researching about LD, it seems like the most oft-repeated beginner steps are to start a dream journal, habitualize reality checks, and use the MILD technique. I have seen some strides in better dream recall and I attribute that to the journal and the fact that I stopped habitually using cannabis. I still have not gotten my first LD though, at least that I can remember. I guess I'm really just wondering if there's more I could do to accelerate the process. It's hard to be patient cause everything I've read makes lucid dreaming seem absolutely fantastic.

That's really great that you've started a dream journal Seriously, it's the number 1 most useful tool!

What you can do during the next two weeks, is look out for things that occur regularly in your dreams. These are called dream signs. Try doing reality checks whenever one of your dream signs come up.

Example: A lot of my dreams take place by hiking trails or rivers. So, when I go hiking, or see a river, a picture of a river, hear the word river, etc... I'll do a reality check. I've actually done reality checks because of this while dreaming Very useful!

Patience is really important. Also, don't stress. Stress can greatly hinder lucid dreaming. I usually advise people who are overly eager or too excited/stressed about LDing to stop trying to have one completely during that time, keep up with their dream journal, but don't try to LD. It's actually amazing how many people will have lucid dreams during this time

Thanks for the good advice. It appears I will have to give "not-trying" a try.
