Hey everyone
Argh, I hate being the "New Kid In Town", but everyones gotta start somewhere, right? So, here I am! I'm new around here, but not new to the grand old interwebz. (Who's new to the internet?)
I'm a 21 year old college student majoring in Information Technology. My name is Amanda (But all my friends call me Manda. Drop the A, its cooler)
I first started learning about Lucid Dreaming around two years ago. I'm not sure what, exactly, sparked my interest. But something did. I went on a massive Google hunt and learned everything I could about it in one nights time. The next morning, I bought a dream journal.
I kept up with the routine of waking up and immediately pulling out my journal for a good year. No results. Not even a false awakening D: The best I could get were more vivid dreams.
I still haven't read the entries in my dream journal. I was trying to wait until I got the entire thing full before reading it through.
Shortly after, I had a family emergency. It required both me and my Mom to relocate 3 states away for a good 4 months. This COMPLETELY threw off my routine. While I still carried my journal, I never wrote in it.
On afternoon, while dozing off in the hospital waiting room, I suddenly gained lucidity. Nothing tipped me off, its like I instantly knew I was dreaming. Once I realized this, my excitement started getting the best of me and the dream started to get fuzzy.
A book I have once told me that, to keep hold of lucidity - its best to focus on one item in dream until you gain your control back. I did just that. I focused on the doorknob. And it worked
Ironically, I didn't do anything cool in my dream. I walked around a bit (The dream setting was the hospital. I think I had spent entirely too much time there, and it started popping up in my dreams), talked to a few people, but I kept waking up. I'd be able to force myself back to sleep and into a lucid state again instantly.
Finally, my phone rang. It was all over xD
Even after that, it took me awhile to get back into the routine. I must admit, what got me back obsessively into it is Inception. Ever since watching that, I've been back on my crazy adventure to master this.
Currently, I'm trying to use a variation WILD (Wake-induced Lucid Dreaming), except there is no "waking yourself up 5 hours later". This one, my friend suggested, you try to go into right as you fall asleep for the first time. I'm not sure if I'm too much of an amateur right now for a technique like that.
4 days down, very few results =/
Woooow. Rambly long post. I'm sorry XD Here's a shorter version:
Hi everyone! I'm new Not exactly new to lucid dreaming, but new to these forums. What are your tips to reaching lucidity?
