      Hello,newguy here.

I've had a couple of lucid dreams in the past but I had no real control and couldn't really remember them. I also didnt know them for what they are. I just found this site a couple of days ago and started reading.

I just wanted to make sure I was going in the right direction, I started a dream journal and every morning when I wake up I've been writing down the basic ideas of my dreams that I can remember. I've also been doing RC just kind of randomly throughout the day(like holding my nose and trying to breath and trying to push my finger thru my hand).

Is this all I need to do for a couple of weeks and eventually I'll get into a LD?

      I appreciate any responses!

Try to write down you dreams with as much detail as you can. Since the more you try to remember your dreams, the better you will remember them. Also, try not to just mindlessly do RCs. Do a RC, and check your surroundings and really question if you're dreaming or not. You've already had lucids! Haha I can't estimate a time, since everyone is different. But continue what you're doing and you'll be having LDs! Good luck!

As Kushy said everyone is different so there is no accurate way of telling when you will have your first lucid dream. It took me nearly two months to have my first lucid dream, just keep writing in your journal and keep performing reality checks. You should probably check out some of the WILD guides as well. If you need help with anything feel free to ask or send me a private message, I'll be more than happy to help.
