Hello! im new to Lucid Dreaming

      Hello,

Im 16 years old and I'm very interested in LD but I don't know where to start. I found this forum, which seems to have very experienced people The only thing I do right now related to sleep is using Sleep Cycle Alarm Clock on the iPhone.

I already downloaded Brainhack for my iPhone but I don't know if that's the best way to start.

What is the best way to start with LD?

      Thanks in advance,
      Syren

Welcome to the forums Syren, you should start by creating a dream journal whether it be on here or on a pad of paper on your nightstand. Record all of your dreams, every detail, this makes lucid dreaming remarkably easier. You should also begin performing reality checks on a daily basis. A reality check is a simple test we use to ensure that we are or aren't dreaming. A popular reality check is plugging your nose and keeping your mouth shut, in reality we cannot breathe but in a dream you can, thus letting us know we are dreaming. If you need help with anything feel free to ask or send me a private message.

Hi and welcome! Everything juvenilepunk said, and that you should have the intentions of becoming lucid. Know it's possible, and set up a goal. There are alot of nice tutorials here you can read: DV Tutorials - Dreamviews Lucid Dreaming Community & Resource

I suggest you try out different techniques. Perhaps WILD is your cup of tea, you never know.

      Keep on dreaming!

      Welcome Syren and jack.
Syren, you've got a great start going there with using your app to find out your sleep cycles. It will really help you with your dream recall if you figure out when your REM sleep periods are.

jack... bit of a thread hijack there, might want to start up another thread Anyway, BrainHack is an application for iPhone that "tunes" your brain waves, or so I've heard.

Thanks for all the reactions. I will write everyday in my dream journal when I remember a dream.

Are there tips&tricks for remembering dreams?

      Hey Syren,
I'm new as well, haven't had a lucid yet but I'm hopeful.
I have gotten quite good at remember my dreams. I keep a dream journal but
I do not write in it as soon as I wake. In fact it will usually be about two hours or
so after the dream that I actually write it down. Instead, I mull the dream over
in my mind first, going through each and every aspect of it from the last thing I
remember, going earlier and earlier until the very first thing, trying to remember
every little detail. I'll get breakfast or whatever, and sometimes, if I have gone through
it enough, I will go back to sleep. Then after I feel I have a good idea of the whole
dream, I log on to my laptop and type it up from beginning to end.

      Hope this helps,
      ~Wes

[edit] Word of caution when going back to sleep, if you have not gone over the dream
long enough in your mind, you will very likely forget it completely when you fall asleep.

You should still write down a few words to trigger your memory of the dream. I quite often have 4 dreams to write down. When I'm about to write them down a minute later, I can only remember 3. So put down a few keywords and then you can start thinking about it in great detail.

When you become lucid in a dream, it can be extremely vivid and realistic. Doing things are amazing at the moment, the only thing which is kinda of a let down, is that the memory of it all fades almost just as quickly as a regular dream. So whenever you have a LD; Write it down!

I don't remember my dream(s) of this night and the night yesterday I think about it as soon as i wake up, so i didn't forget them.

I hope I will remember more dreams by doing the tips you gave me.
I'm now listening every evening to the LD thing on the Brainhack app. Will that help getting a LD or remembering my dreams?

Actually I don't think it will have a great impact. If it works for some people then it might have an effect, and if that effect is placebo or not, it doesn't really matter. Personally I think that the binural beats are great for meditating and relaxing. Combining those two should work great when improving your recall. Tried meditating?

Also, when you wake up. Don't move a muscle, almost let yourself fall asleep again and when your body thinks you are about to, the dream memory will trigger. Just lie there and don't think about anything, let the dreams come to you. If that doesn't work then try to think of different scenarios and people. It might trigger something.

To increase the recall over time, you just have to write down your dreams every day, remember details and well, just use your dream memory. It's just like the regular memory, the more you use it the better it will become. Adaptation!

      Good luck!
