      Knowing But Cannot Take Control

Well I'm new at this so i think that a little help from you might be perfect. I usually dream a lot (2-3 dreams per day) and i almost always remember them as i write them down on a piece of paper by the time i wake up and i still feel them pretty real. The problem is that even if i feel them real and even if i every time know i'm dreaming i can't take control . It's like i'm there, ready for my first lucid dream and then i can't think of something and change the situation, it's like i'm only thinking that i'm dreaming and the "topic" of the dream and situation and nothing else. My dream continues on its own. Anyone else who has experienced that and found a solution? If there is one please tell me what to do..

P.S. I apologize for my English aren't grammatically right, but i'm not a native speaker of the language.

I think you just need to have a goal, and the intention of completing it. Make sure you really want to complete that particular goal and KNOW you will! If you don't know what to do when you become lucid, you're most likely to be swept along in the story and perhaps even lose lucidity. Check out the different tutorials in the wiki section: DV Tutorials - Dreamviews Lucid Dreaming Community & Resource

If you have any further questions, feel free to ask them here on in a PM.

      Keep on dreaming!

Like it was said above, dream goals are key. For example, some of mine are fighting zombies, flying to the moon, and having a philosophical conversation with a dream character. If you do not have dream goals, when you do become lucid you often waste time and more easily wake up.

Don't get too upset if you cannot have full control of dreams right away. I have had about forty lucid dreams in the last half year and it is still very difficult for me to have control. In fact, in some of my lucid dreams there are dream characters that appear and take control of the dream instead. It is a long process. I think what you should do first is aim to understand your dream mind. Next time you have a lucid dream, you should simply take a walk through it, focusing on the sights, sounds, smells, and feelings. You cannot have control before you understand and are used to your dream mind.

It's going to take some time before you are fully capable of controlling and manipulating your dream world. Continue practicing and recording dreams, you'll make it there eventually. If you need help with anything feel free to send me a private message, I'd be more than happy to help. Good luck!

Sarra, i'm on the same boat as you.

What the above posters say, is quite true actually. When I had my first lucid dream (shortly after waking up from another dream), the moment i fell into the dream, i saw people come out of their car, which was about 30m infront of me, and the setting also felt and looked all so familiar to me. The moment i was aware i was in a dream, I instantly made myself a goal; i told myself i was going to steal their car and drive around my suburb for a bit, than go home, get to sleep, than wake up into reality. And that's exactly what happened, in real time!

It's a matter of being consciously aware that you are falling into a dream, and by the time you get there, your mind should be active just as you were when you were awake.

Guys i think i did it! Today i was dreaming and i felt something like a déjà vu (in the dream), like i had already experienced the situation and i "saw" how it was going to end (bad ending) and then i thought that if i would act differently, the end would change and so i indeed acted differently. And yes the end was completely different (good ending)! If you can call this my first lucid dream then your advices really helped me and especially yours epdawg62 about focusing on the feelings, smells, sights etc.! I really, really thank you!
