Newbie is New and Needz Helpz

Hello, I prefer to be known as WickedNDark. I'm new here, just registered a few minutes ago, in fact. I'm still going through the tutorials and what not, but something bothered me.

Granted, I should give the tutorials a chance before I post here, but I've been able to "control" my dreams sometimes or just be lucid through them for years now. It's something I taught myself to realize and try to control. Granted, I'm no master by any means, and I forget most of the time, and have no dream journal as of yet, but I need a little interpretation help.

Whenever I dream of flying, or of me flying period, I can't ever get that high off the ground. I can't even clear a story. I don't know what that may mean for me mentally. It's the same with leaping. I can leap several meters in any direction, but not that far going up. It's been bugging me for the longest time.

Does anyone have any idea as to what's wrong with my psyche?

Nothing is wrong with your psyche. Just try harder.

This advice isn't from personal experience, since I've only had very short LDs, but I've heard Stephen LaBerge and many others discuss this.

It can be extremely difficult to ignore gravity in a dream, while you've been used to being under its effect in waking life since the day you were born. I suspect you might just have to work hard to convince yourself that you aren't under gravity's influence.

I've heard some people say that it helps to create some physically possible scenario in which you can fly. Your mind wants the situation to be logical. So instead of floating off the ground, perhaps you could try sprouting wings for yourself, or riding on the back of some flying creature, or imagining that the air is very thick, or something else that would be easier for your subconscious to accept is possible than randomly floating upward.

A dream journal will definitely help with your interpretation, and probably increase your change of having LDs.

I can suggest two approaches that are somewhat related, fundamentally.

First is to focus on where you are are trying to fly instead of the mechanics of flying itself. Think "hey, I want to get to the top of that tall building so I can look down on the whole city" and let the flying take care of itself. If you think too much about the flying, you'll start to worry about gravity and about what happened last time you tried, and you'll just over-think it.

Second is to imagine that you have the powers of Superman or some similar fictional universe. Superman (just an example) isn't real, but you familiar with the "rules" of Superman's universe and they are consistent. So if you put yourself in that universe, you can "logically" fly (that is, according to the "rules") without your brain getting hung up on the unreality of it. Here's a thread that explains the concept in more detail: http://www.dreamviews.com/f14/archet...t-tool-104409/
I am sure about illusion. I am not so sure about reality.

      To quote a famous person:
"This won't do. What's the matter with you? All it takes is faith and trust. Oh! And something I forgot. Some pixie dust!"
Summon Tinkerbell or Peter Pan to teach you?
Oh, good one! Note to self: New task, ask Peter Pan to teach you to fly
      Also, good tasks sisyphus
