newbie - wondering about a dream

hi all, so i registered here because i had an awesome dream last night and wanted to know more about it.

i am female and the dream was about a man i know who i have a VERY huge crush on. i don't think i need relationship advice but the situation is a complicated one:

he is married and also my college professor (i am pushing 30 so i believe my feelings are valid). we talked a lot during his office hours last semester and i'm pretty sure he likes me as well, but alas, he is married and i'm pretty sure ethical enough not to make a move on a student.

i saw him a few times over our christmas break just out in public and but never spoke to him. but today was the first day of our new semester and he was in my dream last night and I want to know what it means.

      so here is the dream:

nearly the whole dream has a sepia tone to it.

i'm at a house, which is not mine, sitting in a rocking chair, on the front porch, reading when he pulls up in an old 50's american pickup that has been restored. Its very shiny and maroon. How shiny it was stood out to me.

He had a dog in the truck and asked me to go for a walk with him so i did. and we talked small talk but i don't remember what we said. we got to a park that had a shallow and semi-wide river than was winding back and forth and there was a concrete trail that would beside the riverbank with medium to large sized trees on either side. The sun was out.

There was a lot of sand on the ground too and I remember noticing that since where i currently live doesn't have much sand. we talked while his small/medium sized dog sniffed. the whole experience was very pleasant and i remember feeling happy and very comfortable with him. and there was no physical contact between us either.

so we were walking along and walked over a small arching wooden bridge and then there was a large covered bridge like the one in the movie 'the bridges of madison county' and there were people hanging all over like the characters from the movie forrest gump and there was a woman with long frizzy hair with an eye patch like the one from the anti-war activists who got gump to get on their anti-war bus.

i told my professor that i needed to go talk to them and that i'd be back and when i went over to them the bridge turned into a house and the color came back, the sepia tone was gone.

I can't remember what the cause was but i became heavily involved and passionate with this group and after some heated discussions I realized that i had been away from my friend too long and left the house in search of him.

the sepia tone returned and the house turned back into a bridge. i walked about a half a mile down a very curvy concrete path and found him at a fork in the path sitting with his back facing me on a park bench watching the river and birds fly by. i noticed the sun was out again and patted his dog that still continued sniffing the ground. we got up to go back to his truck and while we were talking i woke up.

it was an extremely peaceful dream, and i'm hoping someone knows some about interpreting it. :-)

It's my personal opinion that dreams are merely fragments of conscious and subconscious memories, intentions, fantasies, fears, etc. and are therefore nearly impossible to interpret even semi-accurately for any individual other than yourself (or someone you know very, very well). It sounds to me that your feelings towards your professor, like I'm sure you already know, are genuine and virtuous and that you're fantasizing about a relationship with him. For me to Say anything more than that would be a stretch.

However, I'd urge you to consider any other objects or feelings within the dream that REALLY stood out to you and interpret them through in your own right. Also, if you're hoping for us to tell you this is a sign that the two of you were meant to be together forever and ever.. as much as I'd like it to, I don't think it works that way. Though I do wish you the best of luck ; D

      lol

i, of course, have thought about the idea of being in a relationship with him, but it just isn't going to be. i still like him very much, but i know that it will never be anything more than friends (i do know that there was never a mention of sex or significant others etc., in the dream). i enjoy his company very much (obviously), but i gave the background info to set up the dream, not to ask for a go ahead for whether or not i should pursue him.

and like i said, i am an adult, i've already decided nothing of the sort is going to happen. and while it was a very pleasant dream, i was more fascinated by the sepia tone and how it changed in the dream as scenery changed. the very curvy shallow river, his shiny truck, and even the fact that it was overall a very pleasant experience in the dream, all stood out to me.

I am usually being chased, fighting, flying, or solving some sort of conflict in my dreams and they aren't usually clear at all, yet this one was visually extremely clear?

So does anyone know more specifically about this sort of thing, or do i need to contact psychic gena for this one?

      TIA

It seems like after not seeing him very much (atleast not in an environment where it is normal to speak to him) you were excited to finally be back at college so you could see him and speak to him in a way that didn't feel awkward or weird. After that sudden exposure, you started thinking about him more, and then you had a dream about him. It's very cute that you did too I know you probably wanted an interpretation that looks like it was copied and pasted from a dream dictionary, but...you know, this just says to me that you missed being able to chat with him, and spend time with him (you didn't do anything sexual, so it wasn't infatuation that caused it otherwise you'd be having naughty thoughts)

Oh well...I have a crush on a professor too...is yours cute? hahahaha. That, in my opinion, is the important question here
sorry if you get offended...but hey mine is cute, and I had a dream about him just like yours as well...hahahahaha.

Oh yes. he is very handsome. and actually the very first day of the first class I ever took with him, I thought he was another student because of where he was standing in the room and thought to myself, " woohoo at least one cute guy in this class" lol then he started teaching! :-O

So I was attracted to him before ever even getting a chance to see how intelligent he is. I really love talking to (and looking at) him. lol

Do you watch a lot of movies? The house you were at that wasn't yours, any "feeling" of whose is may have been? The dog, does he really own a dog in real life?

Dreaming about a porch represents your personality, social self, facade and how you portray yourself to others. (Think about the condition, size, quality of the porch you were on) Was it open or enclosed?
A house represents your own soul and self and specific rooms of such indicate a specific aspect of your psyche (as in the porch above).

*you say the shiny-ness of the car stuck out to you, this could be a representation of how "appealing" this man is to you how he catches your eye or attention"

Seeing a dog in one's dream may be indicative of skills that they have forgotten or ignored and need to activate. Dogs represent intuition, loyalty, generosity, protection and fidelity. (This also could have been the symbol of his union, his marriage and faithfulness...which in your conscious mind you are well aware of)

The river, was it calm? Raging? - A clear, calm-flowing river indicates allowing life to float away and that one may need to take more control of directing their life. Rivers can also symbolize joyful pleasures, peace and prosperity. (Think of things currently going on in your life right now)

Sand can mean a shift in perspective or a change in one's attitude and also, it may suggest that one is wasting their time or letting it pass them by.
Wet sand represents lack of balance in one's life.

~hope some of this helps - peace

I am involved in the film world, so yes I watch a lot of movies. :-) Does my dream sound like a movie?

The house in the dream was mine, but what I meant to say is that it is not the current house I live in. The house and porch were both in good condition. It was a similar style to this one I found from the internet:

West End Atlanta Historic District - Architecture in West End

It was the minimal traditional house about four houses down and actually resembles the house in my dream a lot. It was white but with red brick where the slate on the pillars and porch are. And the slated part of the porch in the picture was filled in. The house was white but I can't remember if the trim was dark red of black, but it was dark. The house and porch were larger in my dream and the landscaping was also very nice as well. The houses were set far apart and were all nice as well. The furniture on the porch was nice. And there were a few hanging plants as well.

He has 2 large breed dogs.

The river was on the calm side. I have very clear direction with my life right now so I doubt it represented any of that. It was unusually wide for how narrow the actually amount of water was flowing. And the sand all around was dry. The sun was also out and it was very nice and peaceful, kind of like Spring time, but the trees around already had foliage. I remember hearing birds singing, but not seeing them.

I lead a very deliberate and controlled life, and am spontaneous and adventurous also. I love to have fun, but when it comes to my life I like to be in control of things and have a well thought out plan. I was married for a number of years so I fully understand the importance of a committed relationship such as the one he is in. But the fact that I am drawn to him disturbs me. I don't want to be, and no matter how much I resist it, these feelings I have do not go away. C'est la vie I guess.

Thanks so much for your response, that is exactly the kind of response I was looking for: an analysis of the dream itself. :-)

      Schmanky,

From the signs and details in your dream, you life truly is well on track and controlled and there is nothing wrong with that. At least you know how to let go and have fun if and when you want to, on your terms, that is important.

Do not allow your emotions to disturb you, you are human, we think and feel. There is and never will be any set rule to our actions, we go with what we think or know is right. In my past I have been drawn to someone who was married, but I had different views on life back then as well.

Each person is meant to achieve and experience different things in their lives, and I believe everything happens for a reason. If nothing else, this is teaching you great show of willpower ... at times I was not quite so strong, lol.

Good luck to you, I am so very glad I was able to help. Please feel free to message me anytime.

      Take care,

      ~Steph ☼
