      Difficulties, please help

      Hey guys,

I've been practicing LDing for about a week now. Writing in my DJ every morning if I can recall anything, doing reality checks often, and napping daily to attempt WILDs etc.
But I'm having some difficulties I'd like some help with.

      1) The past week I've remembered about 3 dreams a night. But the last 3 nights, I remember TINY snippets of dreams. Is there something I could be doing wrong?

      2) When I wake up in the middle of the night to WILD, I forget I'm going to WILD, so I just turn my alarm off, grumble, and go back to sleep! Any tips to stop doing this? I also forget to write in my DJ...

      3) When I try to WILD in the middle of the night, I always fall asleep, I can't stay awake/aware enough I just fall back asleep. It's quite frustrating because I feel like I've wasted an opportunity. Any tips to stop doing this as well? But also, sometimes I can't go back to sleep! I can't get in between falling asleep and staying wide awake so I can get into SP

      4) When I try to WILD during a nap, I have problems getting in between being too awake/aware and falling asleep. I relax myself, my body goes numb (not SP yet) and it's really hard for me to get into SP, and if I do it usually slips away and after that it's all over. I can't get the onset of SP going again I have to get up for some reason. It's frustrating. Also I feel like I can't breath, so I start taking heavier breaths and it slips away then also. Any tips?

      5) I RC as much as I can. I have RC written on my palms, thumbs, and the backs of my hands as reminders. I have "Am I dreaming?" written on my whiteboard in my room. I feel like I still don't see my hands enough to RC as often as I'd like. I do it about 30 times a day. I'm wondering if this is enough and if you guys have ideas on better reminders to RC and stuff like that. I have been told that RCs should be performed only when something strange happens (while awake) but, what if nothing really strange happens to me? I'd never perform RCs if that was so!

      6) When I try to WILD, I start dreaming, and I'm "lucid" but the thing is...I'm AWAKE. If I tried to RC (nose plug check) I'd grab my nose in my waking state. But I'm seeing a dream play out in my head. I'm not necessarily in it, but I'm watching it play out. Sometimes I am in it though but I'm not moving or anything (some of them I might have been though I just can't remember) It's kind of cool but I want to get into the dream. And when this happens, SP hasn't occurred yet. But during all of this I'm suuuper aware.

Also any other tips for a beginner LDer! Thank you.

Any help at all I'll be super grateful for, I'm trying hard to become a LDer and I'm working at it as much as I can and your help means a lot to me. Thank you!

      Ryder,

Patience my friend, patience. In my opinion, WILD is an advanced technique unless doing the WBTB variation. If you are seeing dream images while attempting WILD, you are on your way. Many people would fail at this basic task. For this technique, I simply recommend staying the course you've set. Instead of dwelling on lucidity as your goal, consider setting the goal of maintaining conciousness as long as possible into the dream. This will relieve mental pressure you are putting on yourself. If you can just maintain consciousness for maybe 30 more seconds, you might find lucidity automatic once the dream state is confirmed.

As for DILD efforts, you might consider incubating a specific lucid dream. If you really put a lot of thought and effort into plotting a LD, it will be more likely to manifest in a dream. My first 3 LD's were the result of an extensive incubation effort. It was worth it because I flew on my very first LD! Good luck!

Okay I go into SP on accident sometimes and I've realized things were dreams sometimes all of a sudden too.

And I have a dream incubated as my first LD, in detail step by step, so hopefully that will help?

It's in "WILD format" meaning, I go to sleep on my back, become lucid WILDing while looking into a sky and I'm on the beach then it plays out in a certain way haha.

One thing I can suggest here is to try and put your alarm like on the other end of the room and if you have to, crank the volume up, this always get me out of bed. Once your out of bed go to the bathroom or get something to drink dont just crawl back into bed.

I have a very good tip i can give you regarding this. This shit always happend to me in the beginning. So i thougt what can i do? No way im gonna get up in the night and type in my journal. What i found out is that you dont need to type shit hahaha. What you do is that you record your self with your phone or what ever you have. This is much more easier then getting up and starting up the computer or writing in your journal. Then on my way to work i hear my recordings and write in my journal. Its super efficiant. You sometimes even remember more things that happend in your dreams while listening to your self. Its super strantge haha. Cant explain it tho.

So Basic tip for this issue is : Do what TheDudeAbides said. Put the alarm far away so you have to go up and shut it down . Have your phone nearby when you wake up so you can start recording immidielty.

      I hope this helps

      Peace!

Probably not, everyone gets dry spells, or spells like these. But if you are very tired or mentally stressed, it will be difficult to remember dreams. So reduce stress levels, rest more, or try meditation.

As others have said, try putting it away from the bed, and walk around a bit when you get out.
Also you can try writing WILD on a page or something and putting it where you just have to see it when you put the alarm off, should at least remind you.

It is pretty difficult in the middle of the night. Your body was sleeping and tries to go back there as soon as possible. Try some other methods at this time.

Don't aim for SP. I am not going to argue the difference or lack thereof between OBE, AP and LD, at least not today and not in this thread. Therefore what follows is my opinion only. SP is for OBE and AP and is much more difficult to do then LD. Thus don't aim for SP.

Use the 5000 year old WILD found on this forum (I cant put link) and concentrate on your third eye, and as images start coming (start daydreaming if they don't) keep track of the images and follow them, you will suddenly find you have literally stepped into your dream.

When you do find yourself in your dream, take it easy and slow. just observe if you have to. At this point your body is not really asleep, and any sudden movement or high excitement can wake you up.

For this all I can say is try to find recurring places and themes in your dreams that also occur in real life. And every time you find yourself in that theme or place do a thorough RC.

Another thing you may do is always assume you are dreaming and do RC to check. Instead of RCing to check if you are dreaming, RC to check if you are awake.
