Welcome to DreamViews! I can absolutely relate. I have had SP (sleep paralysis) my whole life. I get it quite often without even trying to induce it. I used to do the exact same thing you did. I would struggle to break free and finally be able to. Many times, I would have to literally get up and do something for a while because SP wouldn't stop setting in when I tried to sleep. Once I found this site, I learned what exactly it was (though I had assumed a little about it already). You just really have to stay relaxed, calm, and just try to ignore any of the scary stuff. Remind yourself that these are only hallucinations and you cannot be harmed. You will find that most of the time, it won't be scary at all. A lot of the reason something fearful takes place is because you are getting scared in the first place. It is an odd feeling and definitely a rush, but once you get used to it...you will be fine. Just practice staying calm and let the HH/HI (hypnagogic imagery/hypnagogic hallucinations) come and go as they please. Just casually observe them as if they were a semi-interesting movie.
Lol, I agree with the acronyms . Here is a link to the acronyms list you requested: Acronym List
Edit: That is actually the archived list. I would suggest clicking the "wiki" tab in the navigation bar at the top of your screen. Then you can go to the DV Dictionary where all the information is compiled. Acronyms, definitions, etc.
Good luck to you and if you have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask!
