      Question Sleep Paralysis

I've been trying to induce a lucid dream for myself using a method described somewhere on this site here which talks about sleep paralysis. Now, the method instructs a user to relax, and lay still in one's bed until one hits sleep paralysis. My question is, how long does it take to hit sleep paralysis. I have tried going into a paralysis many times, but haven't succeeded yet, my longest attempt was when I lied still in one position for nearly one and a half hours. During this attempt, I almost fell into a dream twice, however, woke up within seconds of doing so, and this happened without falling into paralysis. Actually, I can only recall having sleep paralysis two times in my life.
      Can someone help?

      Hey and welcome bakbaba

What i have learned from reading alot of the guides is that you should try what suits you.. Try not to follow the guides to hard core. See them more as guidelines and the form your own unique way of WILDing. This may seem hard i know . My question to you is ,

Do you lay in your bed and think " ok soon i will WILD........ ohh damn i wanna WILD so hard!!!! ?

If so then you are doing it wrong in my opinion. What it seems to be the problem is that you are trying to hard. I know this seems a bit dumb but hear me out.

Try this next time you wanna try a WILD,

      1. Go to bed at the usual time you go to bed. Set the alarm for 4-5-6 hours after sleeping ( Different for different persons ) Note. This is called a WBTB.

      2. Wake up and go to the kitchen or what ever, Bathroom maybe? Try not to switch on the light. The important thing is that you move away from your bed.

This is only so that you will come back and start the process without being to super tired.

Im not talking about staying up several hours, just do it like in the amount of time you feel that you wanna go to bed. Its important to listen to what your body and mind wants.

      3. When you come back to your bed DONT and i will repeat DONT think about WILDing, ( I know its hard...) Just lay in your bed and say your mantra. Mine is ( I will lucid dream ) while getting comfortable

      4. While laying in your bed super comfortable, almost as if you can go to sleep by not thinking about anything then start your anchor.

NOTE : When you feel you have to itch or swallow, Do it. Dont over think it just do it. Be done with it and then move on to your anchor.

If you have to move to be super comfortable, do it to. Try to listen to what your body wants you to do and dont think. Sounds hard i know but once you understand what i mean it will be MUCH easier. I promise.

      5. Now you are holding on to your anchor, repeat it as many times as it takes. Soon you will start feeling stuff and hearing stuff. Learn from this, Try not to succumb to fear. Easy to say - hard to do. I know, because i woke up shit scared when it happened to me hahahaha... But yea.

From here on i guess you know what will happen. Enter sp.....

I hope i helped and if there is anything you dont understand from this please ask. I will try to help you the best i can.

      Have a fun trip.

      Peace

Maybe so, but I have to say I agree with most of what totow says. My WILD count is 23. Not an expert, but I have a pretty good idea what works for me.

Maybe you should put an info sign saying: "Replying to this thread is reserved to users that have more than 23 Lucid Dreams."

You may one to consider one or two things...

In your original post you said: "Can someone help?"
It always bites you in the a** when you´re ungrateful or rude to others that are, without obligation, and just for the sake of it, willing to help you.
If you want to put restrictions in the number of LD´S a user has to have to be authorized to reply to your thread, apart from the info sign suggestion, i´ll give you another one...pm someone after seeing how many lucid dreams that person had...

Next time, try to eat a candy instead of a lemon, you´ll see you dont become so bitter.

I wasnt trying to be rude , i was just making a statement , people shouldnt be giving advice unless they've done it themselves. How can you possibly give advice on something if you dont know yourself? Dont make it out that im being a dick im not.. its just my oppinion.

You can give an opinion, even if you didnt experienced the process. You can give it based on what you´ve read, in posts, in books...

What i think you can´t do is to guide someone if you don´t have the experience. But you can give an opinion.

      And i don´t think you´re a dick, i just think you´re a person with a...strong personality...

Come on, we are all trading p.o.v.´s here. (why would i think you´re a dick)? I maybe have to start drinking less coffee...

Just so bakbaba does not feel insulted, the person you are offended by, shaun95, was not the original poster. Just want to clear this up.

Hey guys! Please dont argue! I appreciate advice from all kinds of people, so thank you all for replying!
The other night, I tried out what tow suggested me to do.
The experience was rather strange... and uneventful.... nothing really happened... I did not have any dream that night...actually.... I didnt even sleep... but the strange thing is that time seemed to flow so quickly... I got up at 12, then tried to WILD again... and after what only felt like an hour or so, I woke up to find that it was 4 am! I am sure that I was conscious throughout...
Another thing that happened with this WILD experiment was that I heard a strange 'white noise' inside my head... it got louder... then grew fainter... then louder... then fainter..
Before when I tried to WILD by doing nothing other than lying down, and keep myself still no matter what, I seemed to dream in 'short bursts'... it felt as if from time to time I would drop into unconsciousness... dream for a few seconds... then get conscious again..
Let me tell you a little bit more about my LD experiences.... I have had about 5 LDs up till now, all of them very short... and all of them were DILDs.
I found the DILD method too random and unreliable.... so I figured that WILD was the way to go if I wanted to get regular Lucid dreams... so this is what I am trying to progress in and 'master' right now.
Still, I have never been able to reach sleep paralysis while being conscious...
If any of you have some more advice, it would be very much appreciated.

      Hey Shaun,

Your statement would be valid if i was saying : Bakaba this is the only way of WILDing, Dont do it any other way. I was typing what worked for me and i thought maybe this will help him. As i stated from the start, its only my opinion that he should try it this way. Not a statement. I do have an advice for you tho, Try not to see everything black and white. I'm not saying you are a dick now. I'm just giving my opinion on the text you responded to my post. One last thing, your way of seeing the 0,5 Counts. Does it mean i have only had a half LD? Because what i meant by puting the 0,5 in there is that i am on my way to learning how to LD when i want. You could say 0,5 = Training and 1.0 = learned how to LD when i want. This is off course something you could not possibly know. Maybe i am also the only one that sees it this way two. Ahh one last question, what would you have typed if Perlinfalcon gave the same advice as i did or gave some other advice? He has no LD counts......Try not to assume people dont know things because you think they dont know.... In this case tho you are right, i have only a small experience in WILDing, but every little thing i find out i will try to pass on to others so maybe they to will experienced what i did. But always saying that its only my opinion and that they should find their own way of doing this. i dont mean to be a dick, im just stating

      Hey Bakaba,

It seems my way did not work for you. We are all different tho so it was a small chance of working but still i hope i didnt cause you a sleepless night by giving my advice hahaha. The drifting in and out of dreams happened to me to. But i some how managed to stay conscious all the way thorough.

The white noise i remember having to. When i heard it tho i concentrated on the sound but still counting when i felt that i was drifting to much. This is when the sound got so loud i couldn't ignore it. Thought i was in a concert of white noise hahaha. If you wanna read more about my Almost WILD you can read one of my earlier post, maybe you can extract some info on the input others typed.

Good luck and keep trying, dont give up.

      Peace

I actually did have a sleepless night, but I don't feel tired at all! Not one bit! How odd is that?
I did get a few hours of sleep after my failed WILD though... in which (I just recalled) I had a dream about me punching someone repeatedly. O_o
Well, I'll keep trying! Thank you for the motivation!

I was just having a look at what wikipedia had to say about WILDs.
It says - While success at normal bedtime after having been awake all day is difficult, it is relatively easy after sleeping for 3–7 hours or in the afternoon during a nap.
Why so? I am also curious to know more about th white noise I heard in my head, I haven't read anything about it anywhere on this site...

      Hey Bakaba,

I dont know for sure about the WBTB method why it works better or way they say it works better but i imagine it has to do with that you are super duper tired and in the perfect state of relaxation when you wake up in the middle of your sleep like that? I mean i always feel all groogy and shit. Almost as if i am a zombie haha , you know what i mean?

And about the white noise. I read about it in wikipedia : White noise - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

But it is not what i meant with white noise when i typed it. I meant the sound you hear when you go to bed. It almost resemble the sound of having a channel on the tv that does not show anything. Have you heard of the "ant wars" on tv? Do you understand what i mean if i say that? I live in Sweden and here almost everyone knows what it means. I dont know how it is in other country's. hmm il link you a picture to what i mean.

If you turn on the volume at max when that channel or rather no channel lol, you will hear the "white noise" i meant earlier.

I dont know how to search for more knowledge about this sound because i dont know its name. I just refer it as "white noise" but i dont think its the right definition according to wiki.

      Peace.
