      Smile Hi everyone at D.V

      Hi all,

Basically I'm new to this sort of thing. However I thought that I would say hello as I have recently joined as a member

I thought I would 'dive in' as it were, after spending about 3 weeks as a guest trawling round the DV articles.

My main problem isn't so much the LD's but more like getting familiar to posting threads & getting the most from the site.

I first got interested in dreaming since having a series of very vivid (non-lucid) nightmare type scenario dreams one night as a teenager, which were interdispersed with false awakenings.

      (I dreampt I was in a P.O.W camp...)

In my experience, I found WBTB / DILD to be the most 'natural' technique (if you can call it that) for attempting LD. I was unknowingly doing this over the course of a year or two, before I read that it was a technique.

I would need the call of nature at about 4 or 5am, then go back to bed - which sometimes took another half an hour to drop off to sleep.

Hence I would get the odd LD (via DILD) without any effort.

However what I will say, since reading up & visiting sites such as this is that my LD count has risen considerably.

This is due to mainly keeping a dream journal, which I find for progression is a MUST as it trains your memory & recall.

Also you need to be introspective & learn awareness. Importantly, don't give up.

You will know when you have an LD - They have the capability to 'blow your socks off' as they are so 'real'. A really good one you will remember.

      Keep up the good work

Good to hear you are having success. Do you have an online dream journal, yet? Post some of your favorite dreams to get us all inspired

Welcome to dreamviews! If you're unfamiliar with forums I have some tips. Make sure you read the rules. They can be found in the wiki. Always make sure your threads are in the right forum. A tread about sleep disorders would go in sleep and help not general lucid discussion.

We also have an IRC chat. You can click the chat button and enter your normal name and password to get in. It's useually fairly active.

I hope to see you around.

      Hi Robot_Butler & Zebrah,
Thanks for making me feel welcome with your recent posts.

Regarding the DJ: At the moment I'm a bit 'old skool' where I use the pen & notepad. However I will take on board what you said about putting my favourite dreams 'online' once I know my way around.

Recently, I lost my job which hasn't helped my dream recall, as I'm a bit stressed ) However I will able to try WBTB (or even WILD) a bit more until I find another job

      Thanks again guys.

Sorry to hear about you losing your job.

As far as posting your dreams online. Just realize anyone could read them. If that doesn't bother you go ahead and post. I know some dreams can be a bit too personal to post.

Isn't that the truth! I remember my first LD and was blown away with the real-ness of it.

I'm the same way - I think, for me at least, it works best to physically write it down as opposed to typing it or whatever. But you can always share your favorites on here.

Yes the journal is helping me with my recall. I also try association before, or during breakfast, by thinking of subjects, people, themes & places, etc. to see if anything I dreampt of earlier (that I hadn't) recorded comes to mind.

My dreams tend to be quite mundane at present. I try and let the dream (scene) do it's thing rather than do anything spectacular. However I do think it is important to set yourself goals.
