I've been reading DV for about a month now and decided it's time to register and post.

My problem is being unable to achieve SP even after 30-40 some odd attempts. I've tried a few different methods of achieving SP with no result.
My main method starts with turning off my lights about 20 minutes prior to lying down to rest my eyes. I stretch and do tension release techniques for about 5-10 minutes prior, as well. Once I'm ready, I jump into bed and just lay in whatever position is most comfortable at the time and relax for about 5-10 minutes then I switch to lying on my back with my arms at my side and begin focusing on breathing and relaxing different muscle groups. Sometimes I listen to B beats and sometimes not. While I'm lying there I try to let my mind wonder and without moving any part of my body. While listening to B beats I can last indefinitely without falling asleep and without, usually about an hour. They seem to make no difference in inducing SP I use them to keep me awake.

In conclusion, it seems no matter how long I lay, SP never comes. Just last night I was awake and not moving for 2+ hours. It seems like I get close, like my limbs feel very heavy but I'm sitting on the threshold of body awake-body asleep.

Any ideas, advice, or input for a first time poster?
