      Returned after a long absence

I've joined the forums a long time ago, but I never really did anything on the forums afterwards. Recently, though, I decided to finally start learning how to dream lucid, so I came back here.

Before I start, I'd like to ask how you can increase the amount of dreams you remember. I remember around one dream a month. That's not enough to start training lucid dreaming by a long shot, so I'll have to learn that first. But how do I do so? I've been looking around the forums but I can't find an answer anywhere. Can somebody help me?

Welcome back to DreamViews! Recall takes some time to build. Start making a conscious effort to remember your dreams. Fall asleep with the intention in your mind. Make sure you start up a dream journal if you haven't already. When you wake up in the morning, try not to move much. Just try and remember any pieces of a dream that you can. Immediately write them down. If you can't remember anything, write down, "Couldn't recall any dreams today" or something similar. This will keep the idea and intention of recalling dreams active in your mind. If you would like to enhance your recall quickly, you can set alarms throughout the night. This way, you will wake up in between or toward the end of your dreams. You can then write them down and they won't be lost as the night progresses. Its much easier to recall multiple dreams this way. If you sleep through the entire night, often times, you will only remember the most recent dream. Hope this helped a bit. If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Thanks a lot! I can't set alarms through the night though, my brother sleeps in the same room as me, but I'll make sure to create a dream journal!

You could try to drink a lot of fluids just before bed. Your body will wake up naturally to relieve yourself. You could use this time to write down your dreams.

      Thank's, that'll help alot!

By the way, if you talk in your lucid dream, are you talking out loud as well? I'm asking because my brother told me I sometimes mumble inaudibly in my sleep.

Most sleep talking occurs during NREM sleep, but it can occur during REM as well (which is when you will be doing most of your dreaming). Most likely you won't actually say anything from your sleep unless you have some sort of sleeping disorder. I'm not 100% on this one, though.

Okay, that answered my question since I don't have any sleeping disorder, so it's unlikely I'll be talking in my dreams. So I won't have to be afraid to yell at a DC

Just become aware that you have an interest in your dreaming. My brother and I were talking about Lucid dreaming a few weeks ago and my mother caught the end of the conversation. She started asking questions about what the difference is between being lucid and regular dreams, but she said she also had a tough time recalling dreams. That night she had a dream and couldn't wait to tell us about it in the morning. I swear it was just like we pulled off inception. Plant the idea!
