      Newbie with a question!

Hi im new to this forum, been lurking for about two weeks, but got a question of my own. Recently, while attempting a DILD, my heart rate goes up like an adrenaline rush which I now sometimes have in my waking life. What can I do to stop this from happening? Thanks in advance, guys.

      Hi penguin

Are you doing anything in your attempts that makes you really excited? All I can guess from this is to take a moment to calm down whenever this happens. Try to keep a calm and clear mind.

      Welcome to DV .

Does your heart rate go up when you're trying to fall asleep, or when you become lucid in the dream. I would guess that you're getting excited, anxious or something similar, and that's what's causing it to increase.

A good way to calm down while trying to fall asleep would probably be to try meditation. Just focus on your breathing as you try to fall asleep and just let all thoughts that come to mind fly by. Don't try to shut out your thoughts, but don't dwell on them. You could also go with the classic "think relaxing thoughts." It really should just be anything that will make you relaxed.
