Are lucid dreams supposed to be really vivid?

I was just wondering how vivid lucid dreams are supposed to be. I've had a few dreams where I say I'm dreaming but the dream never clears up and I don't seem to respond to saying that I'm dreaming. Sorry I'm still new to this whole lucid dreaming thing, so forgive me for being such a novice.

Keep in mind that saying you're dreaming and knowing you're dreaming are really two different things. Don't just say you're dreaming, get into the habit of questioning if you really are dreaming and do reality checks when you say it. As for the vivid question. Lucid dreams have the potential to be vivid, but it doesn't mean they are made vivid. You could start a very blurry normal dream and become lucid, but unless you focus on stabilization and clarity, it will probably remain mostly blurry. The http://www.dreamviews.com/f109/dream...utorial-95034/ should help you with this.

Compared to normal dreams, which sort of seem like a memory/movie, or pictures, a lucid dream is basically like how you are awake. It is extremely vivid.

Of course, you can have varying degrees of clarity at some points. But the end goal in reaching a lucid dream is just as vivid as waking life.
