      Hey everyone,

I joined this forum last week; two of my friend's have been LDing for a few months and kept telling me how amazing it is so I decided to try it for myself. Currently I am keeping a dream journal; I have ok recall, 1-2 dreams per night. I try to do a few reality checks throughout the day, and think about lucid dreaming a lot. I was wondering if anyone has anymore advice, or tips that could compliment the chances of having a lucid dream. I have tried WILDing a few times, no luck yet. I have one question too, this morning I had a strange dream, when I woke up it felt like I had dreamed that I was lucid. In my dream I was a powerful wizard, flying around the world controlling the weather, stopping little villages being engulfed by storms. At one point I sort of realized I was flying, and I must be dreaming, I then crashed, and looked around, amazing that I might be having a lucid dream, but I had no dream control at all, not even enough for a reality check, it was like I just had a subtle feeling that this could be a dream, but that was all. My dream self studied the surroundings, checking for detail and signs that this could be a dream. I concluded that it was, but still had no control, and just had to watch the rest of the dream ride out then wake up. I am not sure if I was lucid or not, or I just imagined I was in my mind, it really didn’t feel like actual consciousness within a dream.

      Cheers guys.

Hi and welcome! Motivation is key. You want to do anything to keep yourself motivated, having a goal is a great way of doing this. Set it up and look forward to achieving it.

What you describe is a regular dream in which you had control. A Lucid dream on the other hand, is NOTHING more than a dream in which you know you're dreaming. So you had a Lucid, congrats!

No matter how much control or lack thereof you have, if you know you're dreaming, it's a Lucid Dream.

Some dreams aren't very realistic, some are more realistic than waking life. You'll bump into all kinds. Just keep on writing down your dreams and look forward to getting Lucid again and you'll be fine.

Hey welcome to the forum, nice ODB avatar.

There's different degrees of lucidity, it sounds like you were at a very low level. Your mind is really foggy when it's asleep so it's sometimes hard to register that fact that you're in a dream, and very easy to forget once you do become lucid. Perspective changes are also frequent and can make it feel as though you're watching a movie, so maybe that's why you couldn't control your body.

As far as tips, stick with your dream journal and write in it every day. Be consistent and make it part of your morning routine. Reality checks throughout the day are also very beneficial, as they raise your overall awareness. You can't do them absentmindedly though, that defeats the purpose. Check out your surroundings and pay attention to detail.

Like Matte said, set goals for yourself. We have a lucid task of the month in the Lucid Experiences section, and there's also a bunch of user created task clubs you can get into.

      Cheers guy.

Yeah I am defiantly not lacking in motivation. I can't wait to have some more lucids. Yeah I guess that this dream was very low level lucidity, it renews my motivation though. Oh wicked the tasks look like heaps of fun, I'll give them a try once I get a little more confident. I write in my dream journal each morning, and sometimes when I wake up during the night. Thanks for the advice,

      Peace
