      I'm giving up to fast

I had a lucid dream before when I was 8 years old.
I'm 22 now and I still remember that cool dream ( I loved to be superman ).
I did some research on the internet (some years ago after the movie "The Matrix") and I found some websites about lucid dreaming. I tried those techniques to get a lucid dream but I'm still giving up to fast.
Now I want to try it again but I need to convince myself that I need to have a lucid dream.
And I don't want to give up this time.

Did someone else had this problem? And how did you convince yourself to have a lucid dream?

I understand what you're saying. I'm still having trouble with LD's myself. I'm sure the more experienced members of this board will be able to help you out. They seem to be on point, and know what they're doing.

How good is your dream recall? Being able to remember your dreams is a key element in LDing.

also, check the tutorials on the main DV page. They're very informative

Hey Grolo, and welcome to DV

I've had trouble keeping my self motivated as well, and that's probably what's led me to only having one LD a month. The main key, I've found, is consciously choosing not to let it go. A lot of people try using a technique for a day or two, but when it doesn't work they stop. It's really important to keep at one technique for a good week before knocking it. I've been here since last July and I surprised myself at how persistent I've been at returning so much.

It took me 3 weeks to have my first LD, but it was well worth the wait. Just keep at it. Make yourself write in your journal every morning. Find a way to remind yourself to do reality checks throughout the day and if you need any tips on RCing, you can check out the tutorial, look around the site for posts on RCing, or you can ask me.

Anyway, I know that you have the potential to LD. Everyone does. Just have confidence and be patient and they'll come. Best of luck, friend!

I, as well, know how hard it is to keep up with Lucid Dreaming especially when you are getting so results. I kept going through periods where I would get really excited and then I would give up after 2 or 3 weeks. The best advice I can give it just to no give up. I know its hard, but once you have your first encounter with a Lucid Dream (I have only had 3 short ones) you get excited and want to expand and keep going. Thats what keeps me interested. Just keep working on it until you get close to having one or actually have one and then keeping the habit is a piece of cake.

I'm thinking to make a lucid dreams diary weblog.
Because I will be more motivated when I need to write on it every day.
I'm waiting for a new weblog script v3.01 of boastology.com so I need to wait a week or 2.
When people are interested I will post my weblog here when it's done.
I will try some different way's to get a lucid dream and will try every way for 2 weeks or more.

I love to see that there are so much people here who likes to help other people.

I know this might sound strange, but im sure some people on this board are with me on this, i find myself having the most detailed and long (often lucid) dreams when im hammered. NOw im not sayin alcohol makes you dream , but if u go out one night and go to a bar or something, and get hammered and make sure u fall asleep very drunk, some people let it wear off ill bet you have some incredible dreams. I think a large part of the reason is because the thought of sleep, and your bed is so far from your mind while ur out at a bar drinking with friends, and then you come home and boom fall asleep, i think its sorta like ur mind sneaking into the dream world. A big part of it, is not even worrying about the dreaming and just letting it happen. Anyone else know what im talking about here, i mean i dont think im crazy

      Hey lucidinthesky,
I'm with you on that one. Pretty much everytime I drink or get hammered I always have lucid dreams or really intense vivid dreams. Do you have your LD's after drinking right after you fall to sleep or towards the moring time. I normally will have mine after sleeping for awhile. Plus being hung over makes it easy to sleep alot longer than normal so I'll have hours of lucid dreaming if I sleep way in after a night of drinking. Have you ever heard of the phenomenon that happens when you go to bed really drunk? I read that for the first few hours of sleep the aclohol makes it so you can't dream. you can't have REM sleep. But after the first few hours or more then the phenomenon happens where you'll have really long REM periods like of over 2 hours or more. It's like your body has to catch up on the REM you didn't get due to the alcohol. I'm going to do a little more research on this subject to know for sure but I think your body just goes into really deep sleep when you go to bed wasted and and then the more you sleep you can go into lighter levels of sleep in which REM occurs. That's probably why it's hard to wake someone up when they fall to sleep really drunk.
I've recently cut way back on drinking but when ever I do I know I'm in for a night of LD'ing

Hmm I believe I had my first lucid dream today. It was verry strange I had some small lucid dreams before but that stopped quickly because I was to excited.

This time I wasn't excited I was walking on a street and suddenly I was thinking that this was a dream. I don't know what happened but I think I used the surrounding as a dreamsign. The only stupid thing was I didn't do any fun things with my lucid dream I think I forgot it or something.

Maybe because it was a boring dream.....

Hey Grolo. That's great! Remember your journal and the dream signs and you should be having more! Congrats!
