You should try to focus on the mantra without straining yourself or concentrating too much, and you should continue to relax yourself at the same time. Ultimately you want to have lucid dreaming as the last thing in your head before you fall asleep. I would suggest you keep up your dream journal and continue to build up your recall by noting down anything you remember, no matter how insignificant it may seem at the time. Also, I wouldn't keep the mindset of "failing" to have a lucid dream; rather, you should consider each attempt a step closer to actually having a lucid dream. If you stay motivated and also confident that you can do it, then you will eventually have one.
