      Hello!

Hello everyone, I'm Phate. And I'm very interested in dreaming; due to past experiences.

It all started when I was a kid, about 5 - 6 years old I believe, I had these terrible nightmares, all recurring. I can still partially tell how those dreams went, but that's for some other time. (let's face it, scary isn't the same to a 6 year old as it is to a 22 year old).

After a couple of years, I started to realise that I was dreaming, but that didn't take the fear away. A little while longer I was capable of waking myself up when I was in one of these nightmares (I just pulled my eyes open very wide in my dream, and slowly my eyes would open in reality). So I take it those were the first signs of lucidity. Even a couple of years later, I had full control over the dream, the dream no longer had control over me. I started enjoying my nightmares. I was the hero in them in the end afterall.

As the years passed, the nightmares/dreams, unfortunately, went away. My lucidity wasn't on a daily/weekly basis anymore, more on a monthly scale. I talked about my experiences with friends, but there was nobody that actually believed that I could control a dream. So I kind of accepted it as some kind of extra I got, untill a couple of years back, I heard the term lucidity. It all sounded so familiar, and I was just happy that I wasn't alone. I wanted that feeling back, I wanted to be able to do what I wanted to do again. Fly, fall, ...

So I got into it. I can't really say I have lucid dreams very often anymore (once a week or so), but when I do, I enjoy it (untill recently - you'll read more about that later). So now I'm here, with the hope that some of my questions can be answered, and some of my experiences explained.

I look forward to reading your experiences and tips!

And one question, I was wondering if there's any scientific data on lucid dreaming... I'd be very interested in learning the science behind this (if there is any),

Welcome to the site, Phate1980. There's boatloads of helpful information and advice on this forum, the wiki is a good place to start. As for scientific data on lucid dreaming, look up Stephen LaBerge.

      See you around
