Can I dream that I am Lucid Dreaming?

      Hi,
It would be great if someone can help me understand this.

Since a long time, I have had recall after waking up that I changed some script in my dream or rationalized to rewind / replay a sequence to make more sense after I noticed something was wrong as compared to my real world experience. However, the moment's decision within dream was always short-lived and I would again get involved in the story line.

After reading up that how lucid dreaming works, I had started keeping dream journal and had been trying induction techniques. Yesterday night, I 'think' I had my first LD. I became aware that I am dreaming (kind of like I screamed to myself that "I am in a dream, I am in a dream" within the dream). I tried flying and doing some stuff. But, later I think I lost lucidity or woke partially to drift into a non-lucid dream.

My doubt is how do I know that I actually had a lucid dream? Is it possible that one can dream about seeing himself as LDing? Like, since being able to LD is playing so much on your mind that you dream yourself as LDing? Is this possible? Or any hint of a LD is actually a LD and you cannot make up in a dream that you are having a LD?

Thanks in advance. If some post has already discussed this, please point me there. I searched but found stuff on "false awakening" but not on "false LD" (or some such term).

If you're actually lucid, you'll know it. It's quite a different state of consciousness from normal dreams. There's a certain awareness, a spark of clarity, that's just not there unless you really are lucid.

As for dreaming that you're lucid dreaming without actually being lucid, I know what you mean. I suppose it might be possible, but I'm not sure.

In the dream, I laid down on grass to touch and smell it. I clearly recall that the touch and smell felt very crisp and real. I told myself look how clear these sensory inputs are and this hasn't been before. I also had this "dream collapsing" phenomenon -- watching the blue sky lose its color to B&W in a mosaic and falling apart like a glass pane. I am not sure whether all this happened because I mixed "Inception" ('dream collapse' sequences) and my readings about LD (i.e. your surroundings appear vivid etc.) to cook up a dream which matched all the right indicators. Since, this was my first time in LD (if at all it was), I did not have time or awareness to check for distorted writings and other techniques to test reality.

Then that would have been a LD.
