      Hi everyone

      Greetings from Finland.

I finally decided to join this community after couple months of lurking. It was last year when I first discovered this site, and it sounded so fun to try. Sadly I haven't managed to get lucid yet. After that couple tries ended up to me not relaxing enough. Once I managed to get past the SP but was jolted awake by a rather loud sound, can't remember the sound but it was my closest effort yet.

I've got lucid couple times when I was younger, but mostly they were DILDS, also I've got SP many times before falling asleep, it felt funny . Mostly they were short ones but there was one longer one, but got excited and soon I was awake. And I remember all of them

As I try to WILD in before sleeping or during afternoon(WBTB does not work very well) my efforts always fail when I slowly enter to SP. I just focus too much on the physical sensentations, especially my eyes as I try them to keep them in a fixed position (So can I move them freely or is it as forbidden as movement?) and thereby can't relax properly, but I'm getting there, bit by bit.

Hopefully I achieve lucidity in couple months, atleast during this summer or even today as I know I can achieve it, it's just matter of time and patience.

It seems that I just can't relax enough when I achieve SP, so is there any way to get even more relaxed, or do I just need to lie still and let the process continue on it's own?

Puffin's Beginner's Guide To Lucid Dreaming is a great place to start learning about lucid dreams. You should also browse the Tutorial section when you get the chance, it's full of information, tips, and in-depth guides. On top of that, you can also visit the DV Academy for further guidance - the DVA Professors will teach you everything you'll ever need to know about lucid dreaming.

You might also want to get into the habit of performing reality checks (maybe two or three) throughout your day, you'll eventually start doing them in dreams and become lucid. I usually count my fingers but feel free to look up other methods and see which works best for you. I'd also recommend keeping a dream journal; regularly recording your dreams is a great way to improve to improve recall and you'll be able to notice common themes and patterns which can further help you attain lucidity.

We also have an off-topic section as well where you can discuss anything from books, movies, tv shows, philosophy, current events, etc so be sure to visit that part of the forum as well. If you ever get bored or need to kill time, visit Senseless Banter. It's full of nonsensical threads like forum games and the SB frequenter's are a friendly bunch so feel free to drop in sometime. We also have an IRC Chat Server which can be found near the top of the forum index. 'tis lulz.
When you enter SP, you should try to focus on your breathing and counting to. Inhale, exhale, one. Inhale, exhale, two. Inhale, exhale, three. Etc. The breathing exercise should help you relax and as for the counting, start back at one once you reach ten. Remembering to do that should help stay conscious as you slip into a dream.

Thanks for advice. I'll surely try these techniques today. DILDing is currently quite hard since I haven't got many dreams lately or they are very short (2-6 seconds).

When you write a dream journal, since your dreams are fairly short, write EVERYTHING that happens. Level of blurryness, how your dream body felt, what colo(u)r everything was, how the DCs looked like, how the sounds sounded like, the smells, the sights, the tastes, the feeling, everything that was cramped in those 6 seconds, write it. It'll increase your recall a lot.

If you are determined, you should achieve lucidity within a few weeks. Most people do. I however, for example, am a slow learner and took longer to manage even a single lucid. Don't get discouraged if you can't get them quickly. Everythign will pay off in the end though.

      Welcome to DV. (:
