      Hi seanv, welcome to Dreamviews!

Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming is a great book and i'm sure helped you a lot.

It sounds like you might have been experiencing Sleep Paralysis. I would recommend for you to read KingYoshi's WILD Guide. Also you should attempt to WILD after about 5 or more hours after sleeping. If you try to WILD before going to bed it will be very difficult. (I'm not sure if that's what you were doing).

It's great your keeping a dream journal! It's very important to do and will help you greatly. Remember to write down every little detail, how your feeling, what you remember, etc. As far as WILD being easier then DILD, that's not always true. It just depends on the person. You have to find the technique right for you. WILD takes practice and you need to know what to do once you enter SP, etc.

You should practice some relaxation techniques to help you get to sleep better. It takes me a while to actually fall asleep too.

Just remember to be confident and know you can do it! Everyone can lucid dream! You will get there and start having lucids. Good luck
