      Erm, simple answer: YES!
      You can lucid dream, doesnt matter if you are a deep sleeper or not, at some point your gonna hit your REM cycle and enjoooooy... Infact its probably better, i get woken up quite easily so sometimes that sucks....

      You missed 50% of your first year? Is that cause you have trouble getting up? If so maybe see a doctor?
