      Waking after reality checks. Help!

      Hello dreamers.
Ive now had a few succesful DILDs using reality checks, but sometimes when i push my finger through my hand i almost instantly wake up. I have been able to control my dreams a couple of times now and feel im getting better at keeping my composure but the dream never seems to last very long. 3 minutes maybe. The other night i did about 5 reality checks one after the other and kept waking up. Am i missing a key step or practice during what im guessing is the transitional phase between a WILD and DILD? Should i wait til im fully immersed in the dream to do my checks or is this more of a concentration issue? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Transitioning is hard, you have to be passively aware. It has nothing to do with reality checks, look at some WILD guides to get the general jist of it.
Yeah you should wait untill you are in the dream to RC, also you probably dont need to RC when WILDing.
Stay calm and confident, and you will stay in the dream.

Learn to stay relaxed but also alert at the same time. When you become lucid, empty your mind and stay focused. You want to stabilise the dream ASAP to prevent that sort of thing from happening. Learn a few stabilisation techniques and try them all!

A mantra will help, as you fall asleep, tell your self, "I remain relaxed when I turn lucid. I can stable my dream" Repeat it as many times as you can, visualize yourself turning lucid and not waking up. That will help a lot.

All it takes to stay longer in the dream is to not actually DO the reality check. When you know you could if you want to but don't actually perform the check, you can stay in the dream, but doing the check will almost if not always awaken you from the dream. Sometimes, though, you may be able go back into the dream after awakening from it. Have fun and play and experiment.
